Waiting For Life: A Trail Guide for Discovering Christianity

Waiting For Life: A Trail Guide for Discovering Christianity

Waiting For Life is a unique Christian "how-to": instead of addressing the newly converted, it meets the discovering Christian early to midway on the journey of understanding what Christianity is all about. This isn't "Christianity 101," it's more of a 200-level course, moving the reader past the first conversion and onward towards maturity. When the Spirit begins to whisper into a life that "there is more than this " and the new Christian starts pushing into the depths of Christianity, it can be intimidating without help. Waiting For Life is the "trail guide" helping the reader through to a place of deeper and fuller understanding. It is structured in three parts: "Faith Fundamentals," a "Life in Christ," and "Back to Square One," each with accessible, Bible-based chapters. "Faith Fundamentals" explores why life just seems so hard and why that frustration is part of God's beckoning to us. It looks at how simple faith can be through the eyes of a new pet dog, and it explains what this "grace" business is about. It equips the reader for harder times, too, by exploring the reality of living in a battle between good and evil. It also explains Christmas, not from a Currier and Ives print but from what the Bible actually teaches. "Life in Christ" assembles those fundamentals into concrete lessons for living a new life, beginning by examining despair and what the promise of a new life means. Thoughts and lessons on forgiveness, on taking Christ's light into the world, and on finding a good church all lead to living a passionate life and listening for God's call in it. "Back to Square One" finishes the text with a raw and honest exploration of the challenges the maturing Christian will face. After exploring doubt and its role in our growth, it acknowledges there will be trials along the way and looks at the "final exam" we'll all face.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, There comes a time in your Christian walk where the rubber will meet the road. In other words, the confession your faith has to meet the road of life. God's love is to be experienced in order to gain a deeper and fuller revelation of His love in Christ to the church. Not just by a confession of faith but a life of faithfulness. Only through experiencing the endless love of Christ in the everyday trials of life, can the fullness of His love come into view. We are to have an experiential knowledge of Christ and His love working in our lives. Therefore, Paul sums up Chapter 3 of Ephesians with these words: "Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen. Ephesians 3:20-21 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus. Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ. Ephesians 1:1-3 K.J.V.
The Origin of Wealth

The Origin of Wealth

Eric D. Beinhocker

Over 6.4 billion people participate in a $36.5 trillion global economy, designed and overseen by no one. How did this marvel of self-organized complexity evolve? How is wealth created within this system? And how can wealth be increased for the benefit of individuals, businesses, and society? In The Origin of Wealth, Eric D. Beinhocker argues that modern science provides a radical perspective on these age-old questions, with far-reaching implications. According to Beinhocker, wealth creation is the product of a simple but profoundly powerful evolutionary formula: differentiate, select, and amplify. In this view, the economy is a "complex adaptive system" in which physical technologies, social technologies, and business designs continuously interact to create novel products, new ideas, and increasing wealth. Taking readers on an entertaining journey through economic history, from the Stone Age to modern economy, Beinhocker explores how "complexity economics" provides provocative insights on issues ranging from creating adaptive organizations to the evolutionary workings of stock markets to new perspectives on government policies. A landmark book that shatters conventional economic theory, The Origin of Wealth will rewire our thinking about how we came to be here--and where we are going.

Society of Biblical Literature

This grammar is intended for intermediate or advanced students of Hebrew who wish to learn more about the history of the Hebrew language, specifically its phonology and morphology. Reymond focuses on aspects of Hebrew that will promote a student's retention of words and their inflection as well as those that will reinforce general principles of the language. Specific examples for memorization are outlined at the end of each chapter. The book also serves as a resource for students wishing to remind themselves of the relative frequency of certain phenomena. The book provides students with a full picture of the language's morphology by providing tables of the inflection of individual words for most classes of nouns and adjectives as well as tables that set similar verbal inflections side by side.
