Delilah doesn't need anyone to complete her. She has cakes, confections, and a growing bakery to keep her occupied. Having aged out of the foster care system, Delilah's no stranger to finding her own way. But what happens when someone turns it all on its head and pushes the fiery redhead's buttons in all the best ways? Fisher is too busy running the family business and making himself the third wheel to his sister's marriage to bother finding his own relationship. That is, until a feisty cupcake queen flips his switch and makes him realize he might not be content with bachelorhood after all. Foster to Family is a story of finding support in the most unlikely situations, making connections thanks to circumstance, and building a lifetime of lasting relationships.

Foster's Opioid Classification Addiction Status (FOCAS) Guide

The Foster's Opioid Classification Addiction Status (FOCAS) Guide is a nomenclature (naming) or grouping of every one of us into a class. This classification allows for easier characterization of individuals/patients or potential users and users of opioids. This flowchart (algorithm)/table will allow comparable language and descriptions among providers in the healthcare field. This can also help with treatment stratification or protocols. In general, this has the potential to simplify communications between healthcare professionals those involved with the opioids use, treatment and addiction. This classification is not a risk assessment tool for the use of opioids. However, understanding patients' addiction status allowed for better stratification concerning treatment options and possibly the level of care and intervention each patient or individual may need. Throughout the algorithm, patients' risk level will vary and change and may be at any level regardless of the group or class they entered or are classified. Appropriate medical, nonmedical intervention, treatment and the possible obstacles that will be faced by those of us who work with chronic and acute pain patients can be more clearly defined once we have an understanding and knowledge of each one's Opioid Addiction Status.

Foster carers look after two-thirds of the children cared for by English local authorities at any one time. The recruitment and retention of these carers is one of these authorities' central concerns. Against this background, Foster Carers examines the joys, sadnesses and strains of fostering, the support carers want and need, and the reasons why they continue or cease fostering.Drawing on questionnaire responses from a thousand foster carers across seven different local authorities, the authors highlight the importance of providing support that:* is adapted to the carers' families* contains the basic elements of reasonable payment, relevant training and reliable social work support* responds sensitively to serious crises and treats carers as part of a team* meets the specific needs of carers such as carers' groups and relief breaks.Foster Carers forms one part of the largest recent study into foster care in the UK. It is an invaluable resource for policy makers and practitioners, as well as local authorities formulating policies for the support and training needed by foster carers, and is essential reading for social work professionals, academics and foster carers themselves.

How can we determine success in foster placements? Based on exhaustive research, the authors discuss the primary concerns in foster placement planning, considering the high frequency of placement breakdowns, their impact on the child's behaviour and school performance, and the challenges this places on foster families. The specific needs of the foster child are given close attention in determining a pathway to success. By monitoring and describing the individual characteristics of the child within the context of the placement, the authors are able to reveal what types of supports are most beneficial. The implications for this research are considerable. Social workers are given new methods of assessing the needs of foster children which emphasise the process of care and not just the outcome. Policy makers are provided with rich qualitative accounts with which to increase and strengthen the success of foster placements. This is essential reading for social workers, policy makers and foster families.

NOT A WORD IN 2004 ran the (fictional) San Fransisco Chronicle's headline. By his own public admission, for 18 months Ted Foster "rarely rotated his noggin left or right because there was nothing it wanted to look at".But what had put him into this catatonic stupor? Seems we could be about to find out... "On Larry King Live," he writes in chapter one, "I only had about forty-five minutes and he kept changing the subject to keep his ratings up. But now I've got a book. I can say whatever I want to say for as long as I want to say it..." And it turns out it's not his marriage, it's not that he's entered his fifties, it's not insane world events...It's something much smaller...Jon Ferguson has written a novel rich in character, philosophy and humour, that engages the reader to the extent that you will want Ted Foster to keep on "pecking out" his life story. From page one the book poses a question about "who the loonies are" Foster's pretty sure it's not him...
Foster + Partners Portfolio
Foster + Partners Portfolio is a complete and extraordinary account of the first fifty years of Foster + Partners - a globally renowned studio for sustainable architecture, urbanism and design. Over the past half-century, the practice - founded as Foster Associates in 1967 - has grown into a multi-disciplinary studio, motivated by sustainable design and leading through creativity and innovation. This book provides a beautiful visual record that celebrates the practice's remarkable breadth of works - both built and unbuilt. For the first time ever, Portfolio features photography of every project completed in the practice's first five decades, as well as drawings of its most important unrealised designs. Through over 480 carefully edited images - many previously unpublished - the book highlights the enormous contribution the practice has made to a range of design disciplines. Portfolio is delineated into five decade-long chapters, spanning from 1967 to 2017. Photographic pairings, acting as a chronological record of over 340 built works, provide the book's visual narrative. Drawings of unbuilt works appear at the end of each decade, celebrating the people behind the projects and hinting at the depth of ideas that permeate the practice. By placing projects side-by-side that would not normally be seen together, the book offers new readings of Foster + Partners' oeuvre. Always thought-provoking, often surprising and sometimes humorous, the juxtaposed photographs and drawings have been chosen to illuminate evolving design ideas rather than detail the finished architecture. Connected by colour and light, or contrasted by form and function, the image pairings are shown without the responsibility of spatial explanation. This abstraction puts the viewer close to the creative spark of the architect and offers a unique insight into one of the most inventive studios in the world.
