Climate Variability and Sunspot Activity

Climate Variability and Sunspot Activity

Springer Nature Switzerland AG
2018

This book promotes a better understanding of the role of the sun on natural climate variability. It is a comprehensive reference book that appeals to an academic audience at the graduate, post-graduate and PhD level and can be used for lectures in climatology, environmental studies and geography. This work is the collection of lecture notes as well as synthesized analyses of published papers on the described subjects. It comprises 18 chapters and is divided into three parts: Part I discusses general circulation, climate variability, stratosphere-troposphere coupling and various teleconnections. Part II mainly explores the area of different solar influences on climate. It also discusses various oceanic features and describes ocean-atmosphere coupling. But, without prior knowledge of other important influences on the earth’s climate, the understanding of the actual role of the sun remains incomplete. Hence, Part III covers burning issues such as greenhouse gas warming, volcanic influences, ozone depletion in the stratosphere, Arctic and Antarctic sea ice, etc. At the end of the book, there are few questions and exercises for students. This book is based on the lecture series that was delivered at the University of Oulu, Finland as part of M.Sc./ PhD module.

On relativistic models of singularity free compact stars

On relativistic models of singularity free compact stars

In relativistic astrophysics, understanding the nature and exact composition of a specific class of compact stars which are more compact than ordinary neutron stars, has become a field of active research in recent years. A neutron star is a final stage of a gravitationally collapsed star which, after exhausting all its thermo-nuclear fuel, gets stabilized by degenerate neutron pressure. Soon after the discovery of the particle 'neutron' by Chadwick, the existence of neutron star was predicted. Later on, the concept got observational support with the discovery of pulsars. In this book, various research scheme has been adopted through different approaches such as Krori & Barua and Finch & Skea for modelling singularity free compact stars.
Media Fragmentation And Rural Market Potentiality

Media Fragmentation And Rural Market Potentiality

Today a radical transformation has been taking place in media space, media time and media motion. The culture of new communication technologies transforms the three-dimensional media space and sequential time into presence erasing distances. Along with the new inventions and upliftment of existing media a fragmentation process is blanketed across all types of media. And with this incessant change in the media, world marketing nowadays is struggling to keep up with media fragmentation. On account of the green revolution in India, the rural areas started to consume a large quantity of industrial and urban manufactured products and as a result a special marketing strategy, namely, rural marketing has taken shape gradually that involves delivering manufactured or processed inputs or services to rural consumers or producers. The question now arises whether in this newly emerging rural market places different media substitutes each other or they are the complements in rural marketing context leaves a space for quest. The book tried to portray whether the traditional rural media will be ahead of modern communication channel.
