Ignite a Firestorm! Using Dance to Reach Youth in Your Community
Ignite a Firestorm is the guide to starting and growing a hip hop dance program that promises to revolutionize youth outreach efforts. It includes scriptural backup for using dance, the steps to getting started, the "Top Ten Tips" for building and keeping momentum as well as valuable resources for choosing music and creating awesome choreography. Kelli wrote Ignite a Firestorm in response to the many questions she fielded from other local organizations that saw her church's hip hop dance team, FireDance, and wanted to know more about how they started this successful program. After searching for other resources, Kelli found that there were very few viable resources for using this particular style of dance in ministry, so she started developing her own resources including this book, instructional videos and workshops. No matter who we are or where we come from, autism has taken us on a common journey. Our faith has given us a common hope. We are different - black, white, male, female - but we all have children with autism. These are our stories: our struggles, our failures and triumphs, our parenting, our faith and a bit of everything in between. Along the way we realized we are not alone. Our lives, though not the ones we imagined, have given us new purpose and meaning. Our children have something unique and beautiful to offer the world. And to us.From creating a new normal for the holidays to re-thinking sibling relationships, from asking "why? " to how to cope moving forward, Life on the Spectrum faces the reality of living with and loving our autistic children from a perspective of faith. Each chapter begins with a Scripture that has become dear to us, shares our stories, exploring how God's truth can actually be lived out in the messiness of our lives on the spectrum, and ends with questions designed to help us reflect, rethink, and ultimately grow closer to Christ. Come on this journey with us. Be encouraged. You aren't alone either.Life on the Spectrum is a masterpiece If you are feeling stressed out, stuck, or frustrated with the daily demands and difficulties of raising a child on the Autism Spectrum, this is a MUST READ These stories are real and raw, written with unabashed honesty and unashamed human fragility. Every page offers a new, hope-filled perspective that will keep you moving forward. You will find refreshment...a renewed sense of peace and purpose as you care for those struggling with spectrum disorders. Each chapter ends with thought provoking questions, leading you to find God's help and hope as you lean into His sovereign care. More than anything, you will feel understood because these folks have been exactly where you are today. The Truth about Dreams

The Truth about Dreams

Kelli Rae Hurst

Armament

The current general perception in the western world regarding dreams is one that takes a phenomenon beautiful and brilliant in nature and laces it in falsehood and dullness. What is so exciting about diving the shallow depths of self? Navigating the lackluster and limited realm of self is what dreaming seems to have been reduced to. I am convinced that if people were aware that dreams are not just something that emanates from our natural being but are often something that is placed upon us from a supreme, outside source, they would be much more interested in learning about them. Yes, there are dreams that come from us, but the fact that dreams are many times the result of a supernatural, loving, and all-knowing Being seeking to communicate with us ought to produce feelings of great interest, curiosity, and zeal on our part to find out what they mean and why we would have them at all. I believe the message in this book is one that can change our outlook and value for dreams, and the spiritual realm, to plunge us into depths that go way beyond 'self' to places grand, glorious, and exhilarating. Do you wonder about your dreams? Do you wonder if they have meaning, and how you can find out what that is? Do you wish you had a resource to help young people you know understand their dreams? Do you desire that you and your children would understand how to relate with God and hear his voice clearer? If yes, then this book is for you.
Popular Mobilization and Empowerment in Georgia's Rose Revolution
While other studies explain the Rose Revolution in terms of the contribution of the “power players,” Popular Mobilization and Empowerment in Georgia’s Rose Revolution, by Kelli Hash-Gonzalez, adds to our understanding of the event by examining it from the perspective of ordinary citizens. Hash-Gonzalez shows how the movement frames targeted people’s emotions, as well as their beliefs and values to more effectively mobilize them for action. Using the election fraud as a focal point, movement leaders and activists amplified the emotions and beliefs incorporated in the themes of injustice, dignity, and duty, which supported movement participation. They also appealed to people’s emotions and beliefs in an effort to transform the common frame of political powerlessness, which worked against participation. The book also examines the role that emotional energy played in mobilization. The achievement of a critical mass of protestors was surprising, given the hopelessness, cynicism, and alienation in the region’s political culture. This level of participation was essential for movement emergence and success. Without the people, none of the other necessary factors—NGOs, civil society, financial resources, foreign support or interference, the media, government vulnerability, political elites, opposition unity—could have achieved a legitimate regime change. Popular Mobilization and Empowerment in Georgia’s Rose Revolution is an in-depth examination of a significant political moment from the perspective of the people who lived it.
Buddha Bowls

Buddha Bowls

Beautiful and inspiring one-dish meals in a bowl! Buddha bowls, occasionally called “bliss bowls,” “nourish bowls,” or “power bowls,” are the ultimate in one-dish meals. You start with a base of whole grains, rice, noodles, or legumes. Then you layer on a generous assortment of cooked or raw vegetables. Finally, you top the veggies with a boost of protein and then a dressing, sauce, or broth. Buddha bowls are an easy, healthy meal that can be ready in minutes and that you can have for breakfast, lunch, or dinner—or, if you like, all three! The Buddha bowl concept is loosely based on guidance from Chinese medicine: a meal should have vegetables, protein, and grain. Typically, in a Buddha bowl there is a high ratio of ingredients to broth or sauce and the ingredients are left whole or in large pieces, and not blended, minced, or pureed. Although it is Asian in inspiration, a Buddha bowl can be made with a variety of ingredients from just about anywhere on the planet. Kelli Foster, who writes about food for the popular website The Kitchn, serves up in these pages an amazing variety of Buddha bowl ideas, each one vibrant with color, alive with flavor, and oh-so-comforting to eat. The delicious and nourishing recipes include: Hearty Breakfasts: Blackberry Millet Breakfast Bowl, Coconut Quinoa Breakfast Bowl, Chai-Spiced Multigrain Porridge Bowl, and more Cozy Meals: Warm Autumn Chicken and Wild Rice Bowls, Sesame Tuna Bowls, Lamb Kebab Bowls, and more Dinner Party–Worthy Dishes: Lentil and Smoked Salmon Nicoise Bowls, Miso Noodle Bowls with Stir-Fried Beef, Shrimp Summer Roll Bowls, and more Vegan Recipes: Cauliflower Falafel Power Bowls, Spicy Sesame Tofu, Rice Bowls, and more Fruit Bowls: Chamomile Poached Pear Bowls, Chocolate-Tahini Chia Pudding Bows, Creamy Freekah Bowls with Honey-Balsamic Stewed Strawberries, and more Buddha bowls are elegant in appearance and flavor, but surprisingly easy to make—a perfect marriage of convenience and good taste. If you haven't tried them yet, now you have a great reason!

This book presents the 'brokered image,' a constructed identity influenced by tourism and the global economy, expressed through a variety of displays and performances in rural Tyrol. This image of old world simplicity complicates interactions between and among hosts and guests as evidenced in this small mountain village in Austria.
