I have designated this "A Layman's Introduction" not because it is superficial, but because it avoids getting into the deep philosophical weeds, controversy and history of the origins of the Bible (We have left that up to the scholars). However, we have provided appendices for this purpose. Here is a single source which gives not only an overview but some detail in the inspiration, preservation, transmission, translation and interpretation of the Bible. There is no explanation for the power and unity of this divine-human book other than providential overview in every phase of its composition and history. What if God provided a road to salvation, but we refused to take it. What if God had given us a wonderful truth, but we refused to listen? What if God provided for all of or our needs according to His riches in Christ Jesus, but we were too self-absorbed to notice? Oh, but he has, he has, He has And, we must read the Book.
