Las Cruces wasn't a place most travelers would think to stop. Gut leben hei t gut sterben." Dieser Satz stammt von einem der ber hmtesten russischen Schriftsteller: Lev Nikolajewitsch Tolstoi. Es stellt sich unweigerlich die Frage, ob er diese Einstellung zu Leben, Sterben und somit zum Tod auch in seinen Werken zu erkennen gibt oder ob die u erung nur trivialer Bedeutung f r Tolstoi war und ob sie sich im Laufe seines Lebens vielleicht sogar ge ndert hat. F r die Untersuchung dieser und anderer Fragen sollen ein fr heres und ein sp teres Werk von Tolstoi verglichen werden. Zun chst sollen dazu beide in einer Einzelbetrachtung n her erforscht werden. Den Anfang soll dabei das fr here Werk Drei Tode bilden. Hier sollen unter anderem die stilistischen und rhetorischen Mittel, mit denen Tolstoi die Erz hlung f hrt analysiert werden. Ein besonderes Augenmerk soll aber schon einem ersten Vergleich innerhalb der Erz hlung gelten, da sie aus drei Geschichten, die die drei Tode beschreiben, zusammengesetzt ist. Der Kontrast zwischen schlechtem und gutem Tod soll dabei herausgearbeitet werden. Die Ergebnisse dienen sp ter dem eigentlichen Vergleich zwischen diesem und dem im n chsten Punkt behandelten Werk. Anschlie end soll dann Der Tod des Iwan Iljitsch n her betrachtet werden, wobei auch wieder auf sprachliche Mittel, wie Wiederholung, Personifikation und in diesem Fall auch die Bedeutung des Namens des Protagonisten eingegangen werden soll. Den Kern soll in diesem Punkt aber die Inhaltliche Analyse bilden. Auch hier soll herausgefunden werden, mit welchen Mitteln der (schlechte) Tod des Titelhelden dargestellt wird und welche Absichten Tolstoi in der Darlegung verfolgte. Schlie lich soll ein Vergleich zwischen den beiden behandelten Werken angestellt werden. Dazu dienen teilweise auch Ergebnisse aus den vorangegangenen Analysen und Verglei
