Banana cultivation is of great importance to human nutrition in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo in general and in the Irhambi Katana group in particular. This work was carried out in the four localities of Kabamba, Mwanda, Kabushwa and Kahungu of the Irhambi-Katana group. Its overall objective was to contribute to the control of banana bacterial wilt and its methods were field observation and questionnaire survey combined. The results obtained show that the incidence of this disease varies from one locality to another: Kabamba has 51.556% followed by Kabushwa 45.333%, Kahungu 41.689% and Mwanda 28.333%. Thus, the incidence of banana plantation in Irhambi-Katana is between 28.333% and 51.556%. On the other hand, the severity is the same in all the localities studied, i.e. it has the rating 2 (pre-epidemic). Thus, banana plantations have symptoms such as wilting or yellowing of leaves that are visible, but can be confused with other diseases.

This reference is a comprehensive review of genome editing in bacteria. The multi-part book meticulously consolidates research findings and insights on the applications of bacteria across several industries, including food processing and pharmaceutical development. The book covers four overarching themes for readers: a historical perspective of genome editing, genome editing in probiotics, applications of genome editing in agricultural microbiology and genetic engineering in environmental microbiology. The editors have also compiled chapters that provide an in-depth analysis of gene regulation and metabolic engineering through genome editing tools for specific bacteria. Key topics in part 1: - An Overview of advances in CRISPR-CAS research - Applications of CRISPR/CAS9-based genome editing for industrial microorganisms - Gut microbiome modulation to address gut dysbiosis - Bifidobacterium genome editing for probiotic development and metabolic engineering. - Insights into the use of lactic acid bacteria as starter cultures in the food - Genome editing of vegetable-derived L. Plantarum - Genome editing in Bacillus Licheniformis Genome Editing in Bacteria is a definitive reference for scholars, researchers and industry professionals navigating the forefront of bacterial genomics.

Yellow passion fruit (Passiflora edulis Sims f. flavicarpa) is a fruit native to tropical America and widely produced in Brazil. Although the country is considered the world's largest producer, it is not among the largest exporters, as domestic consumption exceeds production. One commonly addressed issue is obtaining good quality seedlings, with a need to find sustainable alternatives for their production. Complex adaptive mechanisms have been developed by plants over the course of evolution, many of which are only possible thanks to interactions with microorganisms, particularly endophytes. Endophytic microorganisms are potentially useful to agriculture and industry. Several selected species of endophytes, such as bacteria, have potential for use in the agricultural pesticide industry, in addition to being used as genetic vectors. Interest in the use of endophytes in agricultural practices such as promoting plant growth and biological control of pests and plant diseases, among other applications, has grown, as they are believed to be potential substitutes for chemicals in nature.

Bacterial Biogeochemistry: The Ecophysiology of Mineral Cycling, Fourth Edition discusses the influence of bacterial activity on the chemical environment of the biosphere. Following the success of previous editions, this update focuses on bacterial metabolism and its relevance to the environment, including the decomposition of soil, food chains, nitrogen fixation, assimilation, and reduction of carbon nitrogen and sulfur, and microbial symbiosis. All chapters have been revised and brought up-to-date in light of the many advances and discoveries that have taken place during the last decade. The scope of the new edition has broadened to provide a review of the processes and phenomena that are relevant for global change feedback loops and advances in bacterial biogeochemical cycles.
