Utilizing the theory of hegemonic masculinity and homosociality, Moses: Man Among Men? explores the relationships that Moses shares with other male characters. While the dynamic nature of hegemonic masculinity is recognized, Anthony Rees builds on the categories of masculinity already well-established within the existing literature on masculinity in Old Testament characterization. The author argues that almost uniformly, Moses is presented in ways which elevate him at the expense of these other male characters. Recognizing the social dimension of gender performance, and in particular the homosocial nature of masculine identity, this book also pays attention to the social nature of these relationships, in particular those of Moses’ family members.

Martin Buber, scholar, philosopher, theologian, and Bible translator, is now considered one of the great thinkers and spiritual authorities of the 20th century. As a work of his late maturity, Moses offers the possibility to review Buber's longstanding concern with Scripture. It is in this book that Buber's methodological presuppositions about biblical language and stylistics, and his views on the enduring value of the Bible's religious teachings, come to clear expression.

It is without controversy-without debate and without further undue discussion, according to Hebrews under the Old Covenant, Jews of the New Covenant, and Israelis of today-that Moses was the greatest leader of their long storied and varied history. From his miraculous deliverance from the Nile River as a Hebrew baby to the incredible day the Lord Himself buried him on Mount Hebron, the life of Moses can be distinguished in three separate forty-year periods. Birth to forty years of age: his birth, early life, and training for leadership in Egypt Forty to eighty years of age: his life in the Midian Desert as a shepherd of his father-in-law's sheep until his miraculous call on the backside of the mountain by a burning bush Eighty to one hundred twenty years of age: his latter life called and orchestrated by God as the deliverer of the children of Israel from the land of Goshen to the boundary of the Promised Land of Canaan His leadership abilities and his capabilities should be studied, examined, and emulated by this generation of people who have been called into kingdom leadership positions by our King Father, authorized by the King Son, and empowered by the Holy Spirit. This study seeks to chronicle and quantify the life, leadership style, characteristics, qualities, and capabilities of Moses, an important leader of not only Hebrew history but also world history.

Moses was in the wilderness for 40 years in preparation for what God had for him. He spent a lot of time with God. But was he really ready to do what the LORD would be calling him to do?Moses suffered from over-extension, self-reliance and did not trust others enough to delegate even menial tasks. As a result, his ministry nearly died in its infancy. His people were under the oppression of a spirit of slavery and it was difficult for them to trust in the LORD and looked to Moses as their leader and provider.Moses wanted the best for his people, but even Moses had a hard time in "letting God be God". In spite of his short-comings and his nursing father mentality, Moses learned how to let God's people grow and to experience not only the freedom of the Spirit but the consequences of their corporate and individual actions. This is Moses' the Nursing Father: A Study of Smothering Love and the Coming of Age.
