When it comes to spotting trouble, Benita's intuition is never wrong. It has been three months since Benita Renee Jenkins completed her first assignment for a secret organization called DTCU, the Domestic Terrorism Crime Unit. When Agent Jenkins meets young boxer Doug Gibson at a local gym in Perth Amboy, New Jersey, her sixth sense kicks in. Benita soon discovers that Doug's grandmother has been kidnapped by a local gang, and if he ever wants to see her alive again, he must participate in an illegal underground fighting club to pay off a gambling debt owed by his brother Sean. When Agent Miguel Perkins, her boss and lover, warns her to stay clear of any situations not sanctioned by the DTCU, she goes against his command and stops at nothing to solve this case. She will get to the truth, even if it means putting herself and fellow agent Evan Green in the direct line of danger.

In Nazi-occupied France in 1941, four-year-old Ruth Kapp learns that it is dangerous to use her own name. "Remember," her older cousin Jeannette warns her, "your name is Renee and you are French!" A deeply personal book, this true story recounts the chilling experiences of a young Jewish girl during the Holocaust. The Kapp family flees one home after another, helped by simple, ordinary people from the French countryside who risk their lives to protect them. Eventually the family is forced to separate, and young Ruth survives the war in an orphanage where she is not allowed to see or even mention her parents. Without the trappings of lofty language or the faceless perspective of history, this first-person account poignantly recreates the terror of war seen through the eyes of an innocent child. Your Name Is Renee is a tale of suffering and redemption, fear and hope.
My Voice: Renée Mosbacher

My Voice: Renée Mosbacher

Renée Mosbacher was born in 1929 in Vienna. Renée’s parents had both died before the Anschluss, the annexation of Austria into Germany in 1938, and she was living with her auntie and uncle. Renée witnessed the growth of antisemitism and anti-Jewish laws. After the horrors of Kristallnacht, Renée and her brothers made a dangerous journey to England with her auntie in December 1938, where they were reunited with Renée’s uncle. Renée recounts her arrival in London, the musical success of her brother Norbert, a talented violinist, and moving to Manchester. Over the next decades, Renée lived a busy life, became a parent to seven children, experienced happy marriages, and describes the joy and success of working, travelling and being part of a loving family. Renée’s book is part of the My Voice book collection, a stand-alone project of The Fed, the leading Jewish social care charity in Manchester, dedicated to preserving the life stories of Holocaust survivors and refugees from Nazi persecution who settled in the UK. The oral history, which is recorded and transcribed, captures their entire lives from before, during and after the war years. The books are written in the words of the survivor so that future generations can always hear their voice. The My Voice book collection is a valuable resource for Holocaust awareness and education.
