Lacey en Scott kennen elkaar al vanaf hun schooltijd. Na een conflict met haar ouders en zusje ging Lacey met Scott samenwonen. Na drie jaar te hebben samengewoond kon Lacey niet meer tegen de sleur die in hun relatie was geslopen en nam een baantje aan op de Lonely Trails Ranch in Tombstone, Zuid-Arizona. Scott heeft niets met het leven op een ranch en besloot in Phoenix te blijven wonen. Hun relatie kabbelt daarna vijf jaar voort, waarbij Lacey alleen maar vriendschap met hem wil en hij juist terug wil naar de oude situatie. Hun verhouding wordt nog gecompliceerder door Lacey's gevoelens voor Chief, Jake en Bas. De grote verliezer lijkt Scott te worden, maar het feit dat Lacey zich nog niet heeft willen binden geeft hem hoop, al moet hij knarsetandend haar promiscue gedrag tolereren.
