Sodium: Its Biologic Significance

Sodium: Its Biologic Significance

Solomon Papper; Jerry K. Aikawa

CRC Press
2017
sidottu
Sodium is concerned with the physiology, pathophysiology, and clinical consequences of altered physiology involving the sodium ion.The first section focuses on the presence and handling of sodium in the normal state. In chapter one, Drs. Solomon and Galey deal with the fundamentals of transport and energy metabolism as they relate to sodium. This is followed by a chapter in which Drs. Gardenswartz and Schrier consider in detail the normal body economy of sodium, and especially the factors (particularly extracellular fluid volume) that regulate the renal handling of sodium and the responses of the various portions of the nephron to these influences.
Sodom Has Bounced Back: A Response to Contemporary Challenges Faced by Young Christians
The city of Sodom had not only become the hub of variety of activities but a rendezvous for perpetrators of all forms of vice. The crime and vice must have been fuelled by economic pressures among other factors. Although the economy of Sodom was thriving, many young people could have been living in abject poverty. Many unemployed young people killed their time by beer drinking and loitering - as a result they got hooked to a number of sexual mores. Beautiful young women signed up with rich businessmen who hired them out for escort services to wealthy visitors. The city adult book and video stores, the one night (fornicatory) stands and porn shops were teeming with wicked men of Sodom. This book addresses current hot potatoes like homosexuality, lesbianism, revisionist gay theology, the occult, music television and its impact, premarital/non-marital sex and materialism through looking glasses of Lot's story. It focuses on a redemptive ministry approach to these issues.
Sodom and Onan, a Satire. Inscrib'd to Esqr. Alias, the Devil Upon two Sticks
The 18th century was a wealth of knowledge, exploration and rapidly growing technology and expanding record-keeping made possible by advances in the printing press. In its determination to preserve the century of revolution, Gale initiated a revolution of its own: digitization of epic proportions to preserve these invaluable works in the largest archive of its kind. Now for the first time these high-quality digital copies of original 18th century manuscripts are available in print, making them highly accessible to libraries, undergraduate students, and independent scholars.Western literary study flows out of eighteenth-century works by Alexander Pope, Daniel Defoe, Henry Fielding, Frances Burney, Denis Diderot, Johann Gottfried Herder, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, and others. Experience the birth of the modern novel, or compare the development of language using dictionaries and grammar discourses. ++++The below data was compiled from various identification fields in the bibliographic record of this title. Sodomy's Solicitations

Sodomy's Solicitations

Joseph J. Fischel

Joseph Fischel’s provocative book, Sodomy’s Solicitations, builds out a politics of sexual justice that challenges state sex exceptionalism. By tracing several twenty-first century contestations around Louisiana anti-sodomy laws, Fischel examines patterns and practices of sexual injustice that are too easily eclipsed by our collective focus on marginalized identities. The political stories narrated in Sodomy’s Solicitations are undoubtedly stories of racism, sexism, homophobia, and transphobia, but they are also stories of other political problems-and political possibilities. Fischel indicts U.S. sex offender regulatory regimes as state-sponsored sexual violence; offers a qualified defense for sexual expression in public; and argues that animal sexual abuse laws, with their exemptions for industrial agricultural practices, authorize the suffering they were enacted to deter. He also makes the case that laws criminalizing the exchange of sex for money are unconstitutional, and proposes that the best way to protect trans and queer children might just be to enfranchise them.Sodomy’s Solicitations champions a right to queerness across rather than within identity formations-a right to relatively unpoliced gender, sexual, and intimate pluralism. Sodium Calcium Exchange: A Growing Spectrum of Pathophysiological Implications
This book reports the text of the lectures of the 6th International Conference on Sodium Calcium Exchange held in Lacco Ameno in the Island of Ischia in the Gulf of Naples, Italy, from October 1 to October 5, 2011. The present book uncovers the most striking new findings on NCX that emerged since the previous Conference on Sodium Calcium Exchange, such as the structural dissection of the molecular determinants of Ca2+ sensitivity of the exchanger, the epigenetic regulation of ncx1 gene, the molecular identification of the mitochondrial Sodium Calcium Exchanger, and the discovery of NCX in unexpected anatomical locations such as the female reproductive tract. The book is organized into 11 parts covering NCX structural aspects, genetic and epigenetic regulation, regulatory mechanisms, subcellular localization in mitochondria, involvement in neurodegenerative diseases and in immune regulation, and the role of the cardiovascular and endocrine systems, as well as diabetes in physiology and pathophysiology. Selected chapters of the book are also devoted to the interaction of NCKX and other ion channels and transporters with NCX, like ASICs, TRPM, and NHE.
Sodom and Gomorrah, Texas by R. A. Lafferty, Science Fiction, Fantasy
. . . .He knew better. But he did write a nice round hand, like a boy's hand. He knew Spanish, and enough English. For the sector that was assigned to him he would not need a map. He knew it better than anyone else, certainly better than any mapmaker. Besides, he was poor and needed the money. They instructed him and sent him out. Or they thought that they had instructed him. They couldn't be sure."Count everyone? All right. Fill in everyone? I need more papers.""We will give you more if you need more. But there aren't so many in your sector.""Lots of them. Lobos, tejones, zorros, even people."
