Frederick Marryat’s The Phantom Ship (1839), James F. Cooper’s The Red Rover (1828) and Richard H. Dana’s Two Years Before the Mast (1840) may be regarded as simulacra of reality imitating the then extremely popular literary conventions of the Gothic sea novel, the nautical romance and the sea diary, respectively. However, informed by René Girard’s model of mimetic desire, Luigi Pirandello’s theory of mimetic form and Meyer H. Abrams’ metaphor of «mimetic mirror», the analysis proves that the explored texts combine mimesis with creatio, that is the reproduction of maritime experience with the representation of general truths concerning human existence. Thus, the study demonstrates that the reading of the selected nineteenth-century sea novels through the lens of twentieth-century theories, regarded as variations on the concept of mimesis, may lead to re-evaluation of the long forgotten texts, which proved inspiring to some of the most prominent nautical writers, among others Joseph Conrad and Herman Melville.

This book is dedicated to the issue of animal metaphor together with its intricacies and internal complexity. Its main objective is to present a unified picture of the role animal terms have played in the shape of English and other natural languages. The author addresses such aspects of animal metaphor as the problem of animal names used as surnames, so-called verbal and adjectival zoosemy, or the use of names of animal body parts with reference to people. The cognitively-oriented analysis is carried out in terms of the Conceptual Metaphor Theory, which is capable of accounting for semantic change in a panchronic perspective. The results show that virtually any facet of humanity, which is beyond the norm, may be viewed, perceived, conceived of and expressed in animal terms.

Today production of electricity in the world is mainly fossil fuel based. Eco-friendly power generation is a burning issue for power generation. Solar Energy solves this problem very well. Scientists are trying to increase the efficiency of Solar PV modules to use them more efficiently as an alternate source of fossil fuel for power generation. But efficiency of Solar PV Cells and Modules can reduce due to faults generated inside of them. This paper tries to analyze and calculate the reduction of efficiency for faults associated with Solar PV cell and modules. Besides, different fault detection procedures are also discussed that are adopted worldwide. Previous studies have concerned homogeneous systems with a large set of parameters being observed, while this study is focused on a more restrictive case. The first problem is to discover immediate faults occurring in solar panels. A new online algorithm is developed in MATLAB/SIMULINK based on similarity measures within a single installation. It performs reliably and is able to detect all significant faults over a certain threshold. The second problem concerns measuring degradation over time.

This book represents various larval characteristics of animals and their significance. Larva is a self feeding and free swimming stage of existence that bears least resemblance to the adults. They are generally not looked after by their structural as well as physiological changes to attain the adulthood. The process is called metamorphosis and changes are called metamorphic changes. Organisms processing larval stages lay minute eggs with a very little (microlecithal) or no yolk material. Significance of larval stages they help in the dispersal of species, the larval stages are useful in finding the homologies and affinity of various groups. and the feeding and reproductive nature or evolutionary trends may be understood.The following book represents a total numbers of 63 larval forms, their Systematic position, Size Distribution, Habitat, Morphological characters, Special behavior and dictate the figure for readers as they easily understood.
