Essential Essays for the Study of the Military in First-Century Palestine
Though the Roman Empire has been a hot topic within New Testament studies in the twenty-first century, its military aspect has--strangely--been almost entirely neglected. This volume will fill that lacuna by reprinting pivotal, but difficult to access, essays on the topic from the past forty years. The book will help bring scholars up to speed on what Roman military experts have been saying on the matter and give a sense for key developments within the field over the last forty years. The contents of this book include a variety of pivotal essays, though most are difficult to find without access to a major research library.

Personal Disciplemaking: A Step-by-step Guide for Leading a Christian From New Birth to Maturity
Most disciplemaking strategies employ a "materials-oriented" approach - "If you take the disciple through this set of materials, they will be discipled." Personal Disciplemaking takes a "needs-oriented" approach. That is, let'd first assess where the needs are in this growing Christian, discern what God is doing in his or her life, and partner with HIM in the process. The first eight chapters give practical, general help in what is involved in the discipling process. The next twelve chapters focus on initial follow-up of a new Christian - the first twelve things you should do with a new believer in Christ. The final section helps the reader lay out a plan for a lifetime of discipling, using the Personal Disciplemaking Tool Kit. The approach can be used in a one-to-one mentoring relationship, or as a curriculum for small group discipling.

The key to the doctrine of the Trinity is the combination of transcendence and personality in the biblical portrayal of God. This idea is traced through Old Testament, New Testament, the Church Fathers, medieval scholasticism, the Reformation and early modern theology, and three 20th century theologians (Barth, Pannenberg, and Macquarrie).

What a journey writing this text has been. The lengthy voyage started well before the idea hatched of authoring a text that contained the word “thermodynamics”! I was informed by my good friend and sometimes colleague Dr. Jose Antonio that by including that word in the title, nutritionists and exercise physiologists might avoid the subject. But almost every step of my expedition was taken on a rather solid foundation of thermodynamics and as such the topic could not possibly be omitted from the title or the text of a book about bioenergetics and energy expenditure. I am not a physicist. In fact I ?rst went to college to become a football coach. That vocational choice began to deteriorate when taking the mandatory anatomy and physiology courses required of all physical education majors. This information was exciting; my interest in physical education began to wane. During sophomore year, I answered an advertisement in the school newspaper requesting research subjects.
Environmental Site Investigation

Environmental Site Investigation

Environmental site investigation and characterization is potentially the most important part of an environmental project. Site investigation is so important because nearly all other aspects of the project, from financial decisions to engineering designs and construction tasks, are based on the findings of an initial site investigation. The goal in site investigation is to use a number of methods to understand the conditions present at a site and to choose a clear and detailed method to record and present the findings for later reference. Economic and political factors often play a large role in the depth and accuracy of environmental site investigations. This text takes readers step by step through the site investigation process. The knowledge needed for site investigation is presented on an introductory level so that students and practitioners can see the great importance that site investigation lends to the overall success of a project. Additionally, by gaining a thorough understanding of the current state of technology and methodology used for environmental site investigation, readers will better understand how to make their site investigations more efficient and beneficial to a project.
