Much of the writing in contemporary international environmental law is passionately and uncritically advocative. Although Dr. Louka's book is plainly animated by a deep concern for the preservation of the environment of the planet and the realization that in the context of a global civilization of science and technology, it can be protected only by effective international efforts, the stance adopted is not uncritical and Dr. Louka never surrenders the scholarly role...Dr. Louka's book will be important for the practitioner in the vineyard of international environmental law no less than for the political leaders who are charged with its development. Dr. Louka has produced a remarkable book that will be of great value to the profession.

This book offers a reconceptualisation of conventional deterrence theory, and applies it to enduring rivalries in the Middle East. The work argues that many of the problems encountered in the development of deterrence theory lay in the fact that it was developed during the Cold War, when the immediate problem it had to address was how to prevent catastrophic nuclear wars. The logic of nuclear deterrence compelled a preoccupation with the problem of stability over credibility; however, because the logic of conventional deterrence is different, the solution of the tension between credibility and stability is achieved by deference to credibility, due to the requirements of reputation and costly signaling. This book aims to narrow the gap between theory and evidence. It explores how a reconceptualization of the theory as a process that culminates in the internalization of deterrence within enduring rivalries is better suited to account for its final success: a finding that has eluded deterrence theorists for long. This interdisciplinary book will be of much interest to students of deterrence theory, strategic studies, international security, Middle Eastern studies and IR in general.

As with most of Writer's works, Women in Love caused controversy over its sexual subject matter. One early reviewer said of it, "I do not claim to be a literary critic, but I know dirt when I smell it, and here is dirt in heaps - festering, putrid heaps which smell to high Heaven."

It's been 10 years since Beth Taylor has seen the man she secretly gave her heart and body to as a teenager, and now he's her boss.Their relationship grew from the letters that passed between them when he was fighting in Vietnam and she was a high school senior; but he believed the letters where coming from Beth's beautiful older sister Jennifer, whom he had met in a Sydney nightclub the night before he was deployed. Can Beth put her feelings behind her and work with Nic? When Jennifer comes to town with Nic in her predatory sights, will Nic forgive the woman he believes broke his heart and again fall under her spell? Can Beth stand by and watch it happen or should she tell him the truth of the deception she and her sister committed all those years ago?Interview with the AuthorQ - So, what makes Love Me, Love My Sister special?A - Its special to me because it was my first published book, but I resurrected this story ... (can I call it a historical romance novella if it is set in the 70's and 80's?) ... from an idea I had about 20 years ago.The book is set in Australia, but I think it will appeal to a wide audience. I mean, romance with a touch of mystery is a winner no matter where you are, isn't it?Q - So is it a romance or erotica? With a title like Love Me, Love My Sister, I'm wondering? A - Ha Ha... Yes, I can see that it could be mistaken for Erotica, but No. This book is suitable for a Young Adult, New Adult and College and obviously Women's and Contemporary Fiction audience. There are a couple of steamy love scenes, but it doesn't fall into the category of Erotica. There's also the drama of family life - of examining the relationship between the two sisters. The suspense of wondering if the mystery of their secret will be revealed... and hey? When is this man going to put the pieces together? Wake up, Nic.Q - So, why should readers give this book a try?A - Because it's a great story. Beth tries to forget him... travels the world: London, South America, Europe and even gets engaged to another man... but it's no good. She can't break the bond that was forged when she was a teenager. So it's definitely a Coming of Age book in that sense.Sometimes it makes me wonder if the love that is discovered as a teen - before you change and conform to the world's expectations of an adult - isn't the purest, strongest love of all. Think: Romeo and Juliette.Q - Are you working on anything new?Always I've written a Paranormal/Time Travel Suspense Series called Re-Runners. Have a look at the TRAILER here - http: //www.booksbyellibuchanan.com/rerunners-video.htmlAnd I also have a short story series in Shifter Romance genre coming out in February 2016. This time I'm delving into the paranormal world of the Shifter, but instead of werewolves and vampires, I tried to make it different again. This romantic shifter short story series is about Hawks, Eagles and Owls and the battle for dominance of the Sky Kingdoms. There's a taster of Book 1 (Though Deemed Inferior) at the end of Love Me, Love My Sister. Being released at the same time is another paranormal short story called The Cursed Arrow... a good short read for that long boring train trip to work. Thanks for reading
If you had the chance to go back and relive the last 25 years of your life, retaining all the knowledge and memories you have now; would you make different life choices? Three very different people from different locations, die at the same moment in time and re-awaken at that moment, only it is 25 years earlier. Two men and one woman are reborn in their young and healthy bodies, but their minds retain the memories of their previous lifetime. Will the abused wife choose a different path? Will the stockbroker choose a different wife? Will the serial killer continue on his spree of murder?Follow the journey of three Re-Runners; Kate, Dylan and Christian through this series of rediscovery, changing fates and finding each other.Interview with the AuthorQ - So, what makes the Re-Runners Series special?A - They say that in the world of stories, there are no NEW ideas and maybe that's true. But I don't think there's been a series of books on this subject, done quite like this before.I'm sure plenty of people have thought - 'If I knew what I know now and could go back and do it all over again - Wow, the things I could achieve. Righting wrongs, avoiding the mistakes of your 'first life'... So many possibilities.'Q - It's an interesting concept, but what genre does the Re-Runner series come under?A - That's a difficult one. It's a mix of the kind of books I like to read, and I like to read everything. First up it's a paranormal time travel book, in the sense that initially the story chronicles the lives of three people, their death and their rebirth. There's also the element of thriller horror with the grisly murders committed by the serial killer, suspense when the FBI and LA detectives are tracking the infamous murderer and of course the mystery of how and why this re-living of lives has happened to them. These three people from different countries (Australia and the US... and later Italy) are thrown into repeating their lives, but retaining all of the knowledge of their previous existences; maybe for all eternity. Who knows? What would you do if it happened to you? Would you change? Create a new life or keep the old one? Make different choices or stay the same? Leave a legacy for the human race? It poses some interesting questions.Q - You've got every other genre in there, but you've forgotten the Romance junkies. What? No love story?A - Hey, of course there's a love story. It builds slowly and comes in Book 2 - Re-Runners Second Life. What's a novel (or series of novellas) without a love story? Life is all about love/hate, life/death, mistakes made/lessons learned. We're human, so of course there's a love story. Need you ask?Q - So, why should readers give these books a try?A - Because Re-Runners is a little dark and a little science fiction but it also takes you on a ride of possibilities. You'll find yourself imagining re-living your life. Maybe you wouldn't be tracking down serial killers, but it certainly makes you think.Ultimately, readers who enjoy a plot that twists and turns all the way to the end will get a kick out of this series.
