The purpose of this book is to reach out to those precious walking and wounded souls whose hearts are still hemorrhaging from the things in this life that have crippled our souls. The truth does not change according to our ability to stomach it. In the unseen, there is a gravitational pull of time and space that will bring about a rise and fall of tides that engulf the shores of our souls; when it is time to face the truth head on. This surging serves great reason both emotionally and spiritually. It is for the disjointing between death and life; Soul cleansing and restoration. It can bring light and life if you will allow it, because these waves will bring the revelation of Jesus who is "The Prince of Tides", "The Prince of Life" and "The Prince of Peace."

This is the story of a girl who, at six weeks old, was bundled out of a nursing home in Blackpool, England, and adopted into a middle-class family in 1944, after her birth mother seemingly left her to an unknown fate. When Gill learns the harsh truth, at the age of eight, she is badly affected by a sense of 'not belonging' and goes on to face a lifetime of struggles and anxieties, despite the privileges she is afforded growing up - her schooling experiences in private Seminaries, two years at The London College of Fashion, her rich lovers and their flashy cars, and her work as a top PA in the heart of London. In the mid 70s new adoption laws allow Gill the opportunity to search for her birth family. Naturally, her "Journey to Identity" is paved with divided loyalties, fear of rejection, and long-term regret. But ultimately, she unravels the truth, at least part of it, and finally, after a forty-year search from the day she was told, Gill finds some kind of peace but not all the answers. The stigma and the pain are somewhat diluted by her discoveries, but the word 'adopted' refuses to move from its position across her forehead. From Presumed Dead to Intelligence Agent... From Espionage to Celebrity... From Hunter...to Hunted... StarChild is a quirky, subversive band famed for the slick visual effects in their shows. Citizens from a dozen worlds follow the band almost religiously, a cult of fans. When they're invited to play on Ile Garoque, a world that severed all contact with Terra two decades ago, Earth Intelligence moves to plant a spy in their entourage. Enter Anna-Marie Delany and her computer partner, Zenni, a pair known for the skills and prone to danger. It seems simple enough until the lead singer refuses to set foot on the planet, so Anna must use her acting skills and EI's technology to impersonate Taheera. What she does not expect is falling for Jeb Lucas, StarChild's drummer and tech-wizard, nor for stumbling into a hostile first contact situation with a group of predatory aliens. All of this while her father is ill, longing for Anna to inherit his company and fortune, even though she is missing and assumed dead. The world could be Anna's, yet she and Zenni must survive attacks from enemies within EI, capture by the venomous Xha and a pair of dragon-storms, weird elemental disruptions in non-space that can destroy unwary spacecraft. From Author Jilly Paddock, the third volume in Her Zenith Alpha 4013 series takes science fiction and espionage to galactic new heights. Starchild. From Pro Se Productions.
Gender, Media and Voice

Gender, Media and Voice

Jilly Boyce Kay

This book explores the increasing imperatives to speak up, to speak out, and to ‘find one’s voice’ in contemporary media culture. It considers how, for women in particular, this seems to constitute a radical break with the historical idealization of silence and demureness. However, the author argues that there is a growing and pernicious gap between the seductive promise of voice, and voice as it actually exists. While brutal instruments such as the ducking stool and scold’s bridle are no longer in use to punish women’s speech, Kay proposes that communicative injustice now operates in much more insidious ways. The wide-ranging chapters explore the mediated ‘voices’ of women such as Monica Lewinsky, Hannah Gadsby, Diane Abbott, and Yassmin Abdel-Magied, as well as the problems and possibilities of gossip, nagging, and the ‘traumatised voice’ in television talk shows. It critiques the optimistic claims about the ‘unleashing’ of women’s voices post-#MeToo and examines the ways that women’s speech continues to be trivialized and devalued. Communicative justice, the author argues, is not about empowering individuals to ‘find their voice’, but about collectively transforming the whole communicative terrain.
