There are many explanations for the so-called rigor-relevance gap in academic research on strategic management. This Element reviews the existing literature on the matter and argues that it must go beyond the typical explanations of knowledge and language differences and look at more fundamental, societal, and cultural explanations. The empirical focus of this Element is the history and possible particularities of strategic management research in Sweden where the authors show how almost 300 years of relevance-centered research have undergone significant changes over the last 30 years, and that the historical development is based very much on societal pressure, academic culture and shifting perspectives on the role of academic research. The authors conclude by offering a couple of examples of how Swedish research, close to its traditional approaches, still can contribute to relevance and thus help balance the rigor-relevance divide.

De var begge to svært ressurssterke, men de hadde også høytfungerende autisme (Asperger). For dem kunne det være vanskelig å forstå egne og andres følelser og reaksjoner.Kjær er utdannet psykolog og er en tilstedeværende far som tar aktivt del i barnas liv. Han er en grunnleggende optimist, og han er vant til å få ting gjort. Han ønsker å forstå sine barn, og legger til rette for at de skal ta del i livet, til aktivitet og ferie, gleder i hverdagen og muligheter for bedring. Men i møte med Elias' selvmord og Benjamins enorme tap, er det brått lite som nytter.I denne boken har det verst tenkelige skjedd, men i møtet med en så total livskrise velger Kjær aktivt at livet må gå videre. Han skriver seg gjennom sorgen og pakker opp lag etter lag av barnas oppvekst, papparollen, sorgprosessen, maktesløsheten, og den destruktive desperasjonen han selv blir kastet ut i.

In the Standard Model theory for the interactions of the elementary particles of nature, the transition between matter and antimatter is the combined application of the charge conjugation operator C, which changes particles to antiparticles and vice versa, and the parity operator P, which exchanges right to left and left to right. In spite of the theory's remarkable success at describing the result of virtually all particle-physics-related measurements, its high degree of CP symmetry makes it unable to explain the huge difference between matter and antimatter that is quite obvious in the matter-dominated universe that we live in, where antimatter only appears as faint transitory traces in radioactive decays and in the debris of cosmic ray interactions.This glaring deficiency of the Standard Model for describing the present-day universe is one of the strongest pieces of evidence that the theory is not complete and that some kind of new, as yet unrealized, additional forces that include alternative CP-violating mechanisms must exist. As a result, experimental searches for new, non-SM sources of CP-symmetry violations in the quark and lepton sectors have become major components of the 21st century's experimental particle physics agenda.The purpose of this book is to provide a review of the history of the role that C, P, and CP symmetries have played in the development of the SM from an experimentalist's perspective and describe the motivations for current and planned future experiments.
