It's been said that the only thing more difficult for a child to undergo than divorce is the death of a parent. Obviously, it's extremely hard on the parents also.Research shows several potential adverse effects for these children. For example, poor academic performance and possible social, emotional, or behavioral issues. The good news is certainly these issues don't apply to all children and, if the divorce/separation is handled as well as possible by the parents there may very well be no negative results. The overriding thought of parents should be "child first" when making any decisions. Thinking of how this will affect your child before making major choices will help immensely. There is a great deal of information available with good advice on how to handle a very difficult situation. This book describes a program offered by the school district in which I was the school counselor. At the end of this book there is advice for parents going through this situation. Our Banana Splits group over the years helped countless parents and their children get through a difficult time.Remember, the best parent is both parents.

This book describes a situation in which a child is stealing in school. As an elementary school counselor, I dealt with this issue numerous times. Using the method outlined within, we were successful in every situation without embarrassing the student. Included at the end of this book is information on why children steal and, more importantly, what action to take as a solution.

The problem solving technique described in this book is the system the author taught his kindergarten students. It was then reinforced in first and second grade until the students left the building to go to third grade. The system can be taught to preschoolers by their parents or, obviously, in school by a counselor or teacher. Once taught to the child they may need reminders to use it but once ingrained it can be very effective.Children often need help with big problems, but can be taught how to solve small ones. Along with the system my students were also taught various plans to follow for specific issues. For example, how to listen, how to handle a feeling problem, or how to protect themselves. Some of those plans are outlined in several of my other books.Hopefully you will enjoy the book and I hope your children or students use the system-it works

sidottu
The physical geography of Earth is explained through the systems that shape the planet's lands, waters, and atmosphere. Written in an easy narrative style, each chapter combines text with more than 40 single-concept illustrations. The result is a distinctive design that weaves words and illustrations together into an integrated whole. The presentation is uncluttered to keep students focused on the main themes. An entire chapter is dedicated to climate change, its geographic origins, likely outcomes, and influence on other Earth systems. A distinctive illustration program includes summary diagrams at the end of chapters that recap concepts and reinforce the systems approach. Section summaries within chapters, along with end-of-chapter review points and questions, are provided to highlight key concepts and encourage thoughtful review of the material. The instructor's guidebook highlights the core concepts in each chapter and suggests strategies to advance a systems approach in teaching physical geography.

The Sodomy of Christians

The Sodomy of Christians

The Sodomy of Christians: The Biblical View is written for Christians who desire to think and live according to the Word of God, because many are, perhaps unknowingly, following the sinful ways of the world in the marriage bed. Information is provided about the sexual climate in America and in the church to alert Christians of the dangers of sodomy and to urge all Christians to discipline their bodies according to God's sexual design for mankind as revealed in Scripture. Christians who have engaged in sexual intimacy outside the pattern of God's design, as clearly revealed in Scripture, need to follow the Narrow Way, rather than the ways of the world, the flesh, and the devil. The reason why Americans and many Christians have swallowed the whole homosexual agenda is because many heterosexual Americans and Christians were themselves practicing homosexual sexual acts. After all, aside from the gender of their partners, heterosexuals were doing the same thing as homosexuals: oral and anal sex.

Prison 101: A Tutorial for the Uninitiated

During Mr. Martin's twenty-four years of incarceration, he found hope and encouragement from close friends within and without the prison system and from the writings of Rev. Charles Stanley, Dr. Stanley Hauerwas, Gerald Schlabach, John Eldredge, and Dr. Howard Zehr, the grandfather of the restorative justice movement, among others. He wrote this book to inform others about the reality of life behind prison walls and how one can not only survive, but thrive in such a negative, hopeless environment. In this book, Mr. Martin shows that, no matter the circumstances of one's life, one can choose hope over despair and can find the positive aspects of very negative situations. Even the incarcerated can choose to lead a fruitful, productive life. With God, all things are possible.
Quoting Corinthians

Quoting Corinthians

Pickwick Publications

Imagine reading a letter where the writer is engaged in a heated debate with someone and repeatedly cites their positions, but never uses quotation marks to indicate that he is quoting them. This is precisely what we find in 1 Corinthians Paul frequently quotes certain factions within the church and then proceeds to correct their faulty thinking; but he rarely explicitly tells us that he is quoting them. This poses a significant challenge for interpreters of this letter. How do we know when Paul is stating his own position rather than quoting a Corinthian position that he actually rejects? Quoting Corinthians sets forth a step-by-step process for evaluating potential quotations in the New Testament and then applies that process to eleven passages in 1 Corinthians where quotations may occur. As the first book-length attempt to establish more objective criteria for identifying quotations, Quoting Corinthians is a valuable resource for students and scholars alike who are seeking to rightly interpret the New Testament. ""Modern interpreters recognize that Paul cites the Corinthians' own words in trying to conform their thinking and behavior to the wisdom of the cross, but no consensus exists about which texts repeat Corinthian slogans. Watson and Culy develop and apply a clear set of criteria to help modern readers identify these quotations and to read the text as the Corinthians would have understood it . . . This slender volume is brimming with insights and serves as an excellent introduction to the entire letter."" --David Garland, George W. Truett Theological Seminary, Baylor University ""Watson and Culy have written a very interesting and timely volume on 1 Corinthians that advances our understanding of both how quotations were indicated and functioned in the ancient world and how Paul and the Corinthians were dealing with issues of ancient and contemporary relevance. This is a volume that will be attractive to New Testament scholars and to those simply interested in the issues discussed."" --Stanley E. Porter, President, Dean, and Professor of New Testament, McMaster Divinity College Edward W. Watson serves as Professor of Biblical Literature at Oral Roberts University. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the New Testament for the Modern English Version Bible (MEV), and the author of Paul, His Roman Audience, and the Adopted People of God as well as numerous articles. Martin M. Culy is Director of Cypress Hills Ministries and former Professor of New Testament and Greek at Briercrest Seminary. He is founding editor of the Baylor Handbook on the Greek New Testament (BHGNT), and the author or co-author of eight books, including Echoes of Friendship in the Gospel of John, The Book of Revelation: The Rest of the Story, and the volumes on Luke, Acts, and 1, 2, 3 John in the BHGNT series.
