If you're looking for a story about a good, humble girl, who's been hurt by someone she thought she could trust, only to find out she's not as vulnerable as she thought she was and discovers an empowering side of herself that falls in love with the guy who helps her find that self, blah, blah, blah...then you're gonna' hate my story.Because mine is not the story you read every time you bend back the cover of the latest trend novel. It's not the "I can do anything, now that I've found you/I'm misunderstood but one day you'll find me irresistible because of it" tale. Why? Because, if I was being honest with you, I'm a complete witch. There's nothing redeeming about me. I'm a friend using, drug abusing, sex addict from Los Angeles. I'm every girlfriend's worst nightmare and every boy's fantasy.I'm Sophie Price...And this is the story about how I went from the world's most envied girl to the girl no one wanted around and why I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world.

George Augustus Moore (24 February 1852 - 21 January 1933) was an Irish novelist, short-story writer, poet, art critic, memoirist and dramatist. Moore came from a Roman Catholic landed family who lived at Moore Hall in Carra, County Mayo. He originally wanted to be a painter, and studied art in Paris during the 1870s. There, he befriended many of the leading French artists and writers of the day. As a naturalistic writer, he was amongst the first English-language authors to absorb the lessons of the French realists, and was particularly influenced by the works of mile Zola. Although Moore's work is sometimes seen as outside the mainstream of both Irish and British literature, he is as often regarded as the first great modern Irish novelist.

Vain Yearnings is a tale of the sometimes bitter, desperate, and inevitable currents of the desires of life. It is story rooted in the adventures and hardships of an uncivil war with rich characters entwined in the historical details of the time period. A tragedy, that ends in the shadows of a lonely churchyard in one small southern town, that becomes a legendary tale. Brookie and Luther are two, young Union soldiers, both from Ohio, that are trekking their way through Georgia - from the mountains to the ocean - in the eventful year of 1864. It is their first view of another world beyond their home provided by the American Civil War. They endure tragedies, mayhem, and all the devastating insanity of war, but form a strong friendship in the process. Brookie is determined to survive the war and go home to seek forgiveness from his beloved father, John Paul, that he feels he has disrespected and inflicted emotional wounds by leaving home to join the war without his blessing. Luther desires the adventure the war provides, but longs to return to his lover in waiting back in Ohio. In the end, will the yearnings of these two soldiers in this exciting saga be in vain? The America Civil War, the greatest tragedy in itself of the 19th Century, forever shifts the course of these two men's lives, and that of their beloved, just as it changed the character of the nation.
