This is an autobiography about a much loved 4 year boy who's life was tragically cut short by iGAS (Invasive Group A Streptococcus) which led to Sepsis. I am his mother and my goal is to raise awareness of this bacteria in the hope of giving another family a chance, something we didn't have, he was diagnosed with Mild Croup and within 12 hours of seeing that GP; he died. There was no warning, no chance to save his life because it happened in the middle of the night while we slept. I cannot express the horror in waking up and finding your child dead, I have been diagnosed with PTSD and I have to take sedative's every night because that night haunts me and I cannot forgive myself for falling asleep. I feel like it's my fault because as his mother it was my job to protect him but I couldn't protect him for this and I feel like I failed. He was my only child and I will not have another child for fear I will fail again; I don't think I could survive it. Loved ones have told me it won't happen again but they are no guarantee's in this life and I just can't risk it. I participate in charity events every year now to raise money for the UK Sepsis Trust in an attempt to make it as public as cancer, half of the proceeds from any book sales will go to the charity so they can continue their vital work. I'm not looking for fame or fortune, I'm just trying to spare another family the agony of losing a loved one to this illness that is very treatable if found early, no parent should bury their child.

For more than 70 years, William Paton contributed his considerable energy and knowledge to the development of accounting thought. He was one of the early accounting educators to express the high purpose of accounting and its importance in the university, and he was among the early theorists in accounting to argue that accounting needed a coherent, theoretical structure that would guide the accountant in preparing financial statements. Yet a full account of his life, career, and ideas has not yet appeared. Kelly L. Williams and Howard J. Lawrence address this gap, painting an intimate and comprehensive portrait of this deeply influential figure. Their groundbreaking study not only explores major influences on Paton’s thoughts on accounting, but also shows how Paton was an active participant in the professional accounting organizations of his day, how early on he urged the societies to conduct research to develop a consistent and rational body of knowledge, and how, with other early scholars, he was instrumental in developing the first issues of The Accounting Review—a beginning that helped make the Review the outstanding publication it is today. Ultimately, the authors demonstrate why Paton received practically every major honor an accounting educator could receive, including recognition in 1987 by the AICPA as the “Educator of the Century.” As the only comprehensive study of Paton’s life and thought, this is a must-have for graduate students of accountancy and researchers of accounting history and theory, and it is of keen interest to anyone who wishes to develop their own research methodology and pedagogy through a study of one of the greatest thinkers and educators in the history of accountancy.

" ...]commenced raining very hard. I was relieved about twelve; laid down near an old stump, and was soon fast asleep. When I awoke, I found myself in a pond of water which nearly covered me. I managed to get out of the water and back to camp. The result of this ducking was the dysentery in its worst form. I was compelled to go directly to the hospital, and receive such care as they had to give. On the 10th, our regiment received orders to move. They joined the Second Brigade, Second Division, Ninth Army Corps. Unable to walk I was carried in an ambulance, until we came up with the regiment on the ...]."

`A fascinating look at the father of naval avaiation’ - Library Journal This is a detailed portrait of the man who took on the challenge of forming an aeronautical bureau within the US Navy in 1921 and then nurtured the early development of naval aviation. Describing Admiral Moffett as one of the first high-ranking naval officers to appreciate the importance of the airplane and its potential impact on the fleet, Trimble contends that the admiral’s strong background as a surface officer gave him an unmatched credibility and trust with his superiors. Trimble is equally candid about the admiral’s shortcomings, including his heavy-handed support for airships, a technological dead end that squandered millions and led to Moffett’s death in 1933 when he went down with the airship Akron during a storm. William F. Trimble is a professor of history at Auburn University in Alabama and the author of five other books, including Wings for the Navy.
