Anna Maria van Schurman, 'The Star of Utrecht'
Dutch Golden Age scholar Anna Maria van Schurman was widely regarded throughout the seventeenth century as the most learned woman of her age. She was 'The Star of Utrecht','The Dutch Minerva','The Tenth Muse', 'a miracle of her sex', 'the incomparable Virgin', and 'the oracle of Utrecht'. As the first woman ever to attend a university, she was also the first to advocate, boldly, that women should be admitted into universities. A brilliant linguist, she mastered some fifteen languages. She was the first Dutch woman to seek publication of her correspondence. Her letters in several languages Hebrew, Greek, Latin, and French – to the intellectual men and women of her time reveal the breadth of her interests in theology, philosophy, medicine, literature, numismatics, painting, sculpture, embroidery, and instrumental music. This study addresses Van Schurman's transformative contribution to the seventeenth-century debate on women's education. It analyses, first, her educational philosophy; and, second, the transnational reception of her writings on women's education, particularly in France. Anne Larsen explores how, in advocating advanced learning for women, Van Schurman challenged the educational establishment of her day to allow women to study all the arts and the sciences. Her letters offer fascinating insights into the challenges that scholarly women faced in the early modern period when they sought to define themselves as intellectuals, writers, and thoughtful contributors to the social good.
Anna Maria Strada, Prima Donna of G. F. Handel
George Frideric Handel’s longest continuous collaboration with a leading singer took place between 1729 and 1737 with Anna Maria Strada del Pò (1703–1775), a soprano who may have sung ‘entirely di petto’; that is, with a chest-like vocal production in the head range as well: powerfully and sonorously. The investigation of her peculiar vocal features and career, in connection with the music written for her by Handel and other composers, involved musicological research methods and findings of the historically informed performance practice. The conclusions rest on three main pillars: musical sources; surviving descriptions of her singing; and period treatises, completed with the author’s practical experiences as a classical singer.

Drawing inspiration from the everyday female consciousness and an oppressive, censorial dictatorship - as experienced in 1970s and 1980s Brazil - Italian-born Anna Maria Maiolino, who moved to Brazil in her late teens, has produced works steeped in vital force, embracing a wide range of languages and media throughout her artistic career: from performance to sculpture, from videos to photography, from installation to drawing. Her works study human relationships and the difficulty underlying communication and expression, travelling the faint boundary between an attention to human physicality and corporeity and a more intimate, spiritual sphere. Text in English and Italian.

First and foremost, a devotional piece to a very special woman that entails a compilation of erotic stories, personal dialogue, poems, journal entries, and educational pieces on the intense lifestyle of BDSM. The main purpose of this title is to not only cast down the distorted misconceptions of kink and those who practice it, but to share my thoughts, emotions, experiences, and learned lessons with those who are either new to the community, interested in the lifestyle, or just simply interested in my particular journey. This title differs from many other fictional kink books. All material provided is based from research coupled with my personal experience that came from attending conferences, seminars, participating in the various activities, reading many books, watching many videos, and having solid mentors with years of experience. The writings you will read are all raw material straight from the drawing board and serves to be transparent to the reader, no matter the experience level. A great mix of romance, adventure, passion, power, and intense content that will leave your body aching for more. The second book is currently under works. Stay tuned for more
