How sick are you of US politics? Do you believe the world is doomed regardless of who has claimed the Oval Office throne--er, chair? Refresh your spirit and allay your fears by laughing along with what Mark Twain might have written about today's political falderal. "Solidly entertaining." Publishers WeeklyWINNER 2016 IBPA Benjamin Franklin Gold Medal for Science Fiction & Fantasy. Morgan le Fay, sixth-century Queen of Gore and the only major character not killed off by Mark Twain in A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court, vows revenge upon the Yankee Hank Morgan. She casts a spell to take her to 1879 Connecticut so she may waylay Sir Boss before he can travel back in time to destroy her world. But the spell misses by 300 miles and 200 years, landing her in the Washington, DC, of 2079, replete with flying limousines, hovering office buildings, virtual-reality television, and sundry other technological marvels.Whatever is a time-displaced queen of magic and minions to do? Why, rebuild her kingdom, of course--two kingdoms, in fact: as Campaign Boss for the reelection of American President Malory Beckham Hinton, and as owner of the London Knights world-champion baseball franchise.Written as though by the old master himself, King Arthur's Sister in Washington's Court by Mark Twain as channeled by Kim Iverson Headlee offers laughs, love, and a candid look at American society, popular culture, politics, baseball... and the human heart.

Although tales of these old British heroes have been published before in a form intended for young people, it is believed that they have never been related quite in the same spirit nor from the same point of view; and it is hoped that the book will fill a place hitherto vacant in the hearts of all boys and girls.

Although, therefore, these stories of King Arthur and his men treat of knights and their ladies, of magical trolls and wonder-working wizards, and it might seem for that reason that they can have little or nothing in common with life of the present day, it will be seen that the spirit in which they are told conveys something which every boy can learn. Indeed, the great and simple lesson of chivalry which the tales of King Arthur teach is, in a few words, to merit 'the fine old name of gentleman.' The history of King Arthur and his Knights is contained in two books, one being the Morte D'Arthur, written by Sir Thomas Malory, the other being the Mabinogion, a collection of old Welsh stories, first translated by Lady Charlotte Guest in 1838. I have selected thirteen tales from the number which these two books contain; but there are many more, equally as interesting, which remain. Little is known about Sir Thomas Malory, who lived in the fifteenth century. We only learn that he was a Welshman, a man of heroic mind who, as an old writer relates, 'from his youth, greatly shone in the gifts of mind and body.

Coming from a broken home, and bitterly disillusioned by life and the world-at-large, Thomas Stirk is a directionless rebel who fills his "big empty" with drug deals, drunken binges, and snorting cocaine. After one particularly heavy night of drinking, Thomas wakes up alone in the back of a stranger's SUV to the sound of angry police who demand the answer to one question: Where is Rachel "Codi" Joseph, the missing owner of the car? Released for lack of evidence, Thomas returns to his embittered life filled with lingering questions about Codi's mysterious disappearance. Then, in a drug-enhanced moment of bravado, he unleashes a bitter verbal tirade on a local crowded church. But in a shocking turn of events, Thomas switches realities-from the seen to the unseen-and finds himself confronted by a trio of angel mentors who lead him down a path of deep self-examination-and ultimately redemption. Armed with newfound knowledge and divine inspiration, Thomas, still troubled by Codi's abduction, uncovers the truth behind her kidnapping and embarks on a harrowing mission to save her from her captors. Will Thomas rescue Codi in time? And what will the future have in store for Thomas-and for Codi-if he succeeds?
