Condition monitoring (colloquially, CM) is the process of monitoring machinery to identify a significant change, which might be indicative of an underlying aberration. Condition Monitoring in Thermal Power Stations: Case Studies covers 25 case studies of all major areas of thermal power stations, which have suffered a lot of machinery condition issues. It covers the information about how machine vibrations can be brought down to the acceptable limits via the employment of condition monitoring techniques. It also includes detection methodology for condition monitoring deviations of all areas in a plant and suggested remedies. Features: Covers pre-maintenance history to work execution through analysis and having the results with post-condition monitoring data. Uses actual machine maintenance photos for better understanding and visualization of case studies. Provides knowledge of each condition monitoring technique through all case studies. Helps readers to replicate the idea of case study diagnosis into plant/machinery of any type of industry. Illustrates real problems and real solutions for practical issues. This book is aimed at professionals and researchers in plant engineering and maintenance, thermal power plants, and condition monitoring.

Keats and Philosophy

Keats and Philosophy

John Keats remains one of the most familiar and beloved of English poets, but has received surprisingly little critical attention in recent years. This study is a fresh contribution to Keats criticism and Romantic scholarship, positioning Keats as a figure of philosophical interest who warrants renewed attention. Exploring Keats’s own Romantic accounts of feeling and thinking, this study draws a connection between poetry and the phenomenological branches of modern philosophy. The study takes Keats’s poetic evocation of touching hands, wandering feet, beating hearts and breathing bodies as a descriptive elaboration of consciousness and a phenomenological account of experience. The philosophical terms of analysis adopted here challenge the orthodoxies of Keats scholarship, traditionally characterised by the careful historicisation of a limited canon. The philosophical framework of analysis enhances the readings put forward, while Keats’s poems, in turn, serve to give fuller expression of those ideas themselves. Using Keats as a particular case, this book also demonstrates the ways in which theory and philosophy supplement literary scholarship.
Subtle Challenges of Big Data: Diving into Big Data Epistemic Challenges
Big Data has created radical shifts, in less than a decade, with implications that are more subtle than they appear. While the technology is taking far major leaps ahead creating an unprecedented amount of data there is an urgent need to address Big Data' subtle implications and challenges related for instance to the establishment of mathematical theoretical frameworks to scale inferences and machine learning algorithms. Big Data has shown its tremendous potential to transform industries, such as healthcare and insurance industries, and to empower artificial intelligence and machine learning at an unequivocal scale, today. However, there are concerns that Big Data may lose much of its usefulness, potentially generating new unintended consequences if epistemological (knowledge generation) challenges are not addressed. Big Data has grown tremendously rapidly leading to data to outpace concepts. Conceptual investigations and mathematical frameworks are to theory formulation what methodology is to Big Data gathering and Big Data analytics. A lack of conceptual frameworks to address epistemological challenges of Big Data may slow progress in innovations and delay the development of Big Data's prospective applications according to recent reports and publications on Big Data. There is an urgent need to address Big Data's epistemological challenges along with technological challenges, in both public and private sectors, and to catch up with both shortages in skills and concepts to better leverage Big Data for our increasingly data-driven society.

Edge & Fog Analytics: The New Analytics Interface

Edge and fog analytics are on the rise and expected to continue growing in coming years. The global edge analytics market is expected to see a significant growth rate with a substantial increase in investment aiming to improve the overall edge analytics. Today, edge and fog analytics are not only powered by machine learning (ML) and artificial intelligence (AI) but also by the expansion of cloud-to-edge range of ML/AI chips that are built-in to accommodate high-performance computing (HPC) requirements, in the vicinity of where data is produced. The Internet of Things (IoT) devices with their embedded processing capabilities using new tiny chips designed to run complex models at the edge, are more appealing for ML and AI applications. These chip-enhanced devices are directly connected to a wide range of sensors, such as iPhone sensors, meteorological and hydrological sensors, which are capturing large quantity of input data as streaming data. Edge and fog analytics, at the edges, reduce the latency between data capture and decision-making by acting immediately on streaming data, which may be required in critical remote operations. Both cloud and edge analytics will be supplementing each other in handling large-scale workloads and delivering data insights. The edge analytics handles a subset of data, which can be both processed and analysed at the edge with the results transmitted back to the local area network level, the fog, which in turn transmits the data into the cloud. This period, of the emerging cloud-to-edge ecosystem, is referred to as the

The tenth century in England; a century of conflict; a century of war and a century dominated by the struggle for rule over the realm. The contenders; the Anglo-Saxons, the Vikings and the Danes. They all ruled over part of the country, they all wanted more, they all wanted to be the ultimate power, the rulers, the king makers. But only the strongest could ultimately rule over all the land, only the most tenacious could shed sufficient blood to overcome the others. Death was treated with contempt, it had no meaning, it was a sacrifice that all participants were willing to pay to achieve the ultimate goal; VICTORY.The century threw up heroes, men of immense bravery, men who would become legends. The century was replete with monarchs who hurled themselves into the fray for the chance to be; The King of all England. This book is the story of the rulers and their protectors, the time lines are accurate and as recorded in the Anglo-Saxon Chronicles; the Kings and Queens are real; their characterisations and their protectors are possible but unrecorded; the tenth century, a time when the green fields of England were stained red with blood.
