During the Cold War, nuclear submarines performed the greatest public service of all: prevention of a third world war. History shows that they succeeded; the Cold War ended peacefully, but for security reasons, only now can this story be told.Eric Thompson is a career nuclear submarine officer who served from the first days of the Polaris missile boats until after the end of the Cold War. He joined the Navy in the last days of Empire, made his first sorties in World War II type submarines and ended up as the top engineer in charge of the navy’s nuclear power plants. Along the way, he helped develop all manner of kit, from guided torpedoes to the Trident ballistic missile system. In this vivid personal account of his submarine operations, he reveals what it was like to literally have your finger on the nuclear button. In his journey, the author leads the reader through top-secret submarine patrols, hush-hush scientific trials, underwater weapon developments, public relations battles with nuclear protesters, arm-wrestling with politicians and the changing roles of females and homosexuals in the Navy. It is essentially a human story, rich in both drama and comedy, like the Russian spy trawler that played dance music at passing submarines. There was never a dull moment.Behind the lighter moments was a deadly serious game. This, the inside story of Britain’s nuclear deterrent, reveals the secretive life of submarines and the men who served on them; they kept their watch, and by maintaining the threat of ‘Mutually Assured Destruction’ helped keep Britain and the world safe.
Our teacher in Compliance in Luxembourg Banking and Investment Funds Law said: "By all means investigate the Ukrainians. But don't touch the Saudis and Qataris - they have too much money " He was a famous lawyer working for the government. So, why are the Democrats so against investigating the actions of Joe Biden, Vice President of the United States, President Obama's point man on Ukraine, and those of his son Hunter Biden, who was appointed to the Board of Burisma Holdings without any experience in Ukraine, energy or specifically oil and gas?
Compliance is a very risky field to work in. Former FBI head James Comey was a board member of HSBC untilo he becamehead of the FBI. HSBC was later fined for money laundering for Latin American drug cartels in that period, but no criminal charges were brought.'Chief Financial Officer Meng Wanzhou iwas arrested in Vancouver, Canada while changing planes en route to Mexico from Hong Kong.Department of Justice alleges that she mislead American banks about the true relationship between a Hong Kong company called Skycom and Huawei, a company founded by her father, with alleged close ties to the Chinese military. This brought the banks into possible violation if American-EU sanctions against Iran.Ms Meng is facing a hearing on possible extradition to the United States for trial.
In the book "Luxembourg Wealth Management - Job Contract" CEO Mohamed Hosen, Mazars Luxembourg was cited for saying: "Nothing ever happens. Perhaps we have to pay some money ".In our first volume the Compliance case against Huawei and its CEO Meng Wanchou was discussed based on media reporting. In this second volume the reader can familiarise himself with the indictment.Bear in mind, however, that the fundamental rule is that anyone is presumed innocent until found guilty by a court of law, according to Fifth Amendment of the United States Constitution.Similar rules formally govern most European countries. The next step is for a hearing whether the Canadian courts acceptthere is probable cause that CFO Meng Wanchou violated also Canadian law and can be extradited to the United States.Ms Meng is facing a hearing 6 Feb 2019 on extradition to the United States for trial.
The one piece of information that can potentially save your life and that of many other people is that it takes up to 14 days from you have been infected and the symptoms show themselves. You travel around, cough on other innocent people and infect them without you knowing a thing. The failure to understand this led especially European socalled experts and governments to delay taking the necessary - and hugely expensive - actions to contain the coronavirus.

Quis Custodiet Ipsos Custodes? Who will guard the guards themselves? Humanity's Commonwealth won its war with the alien Shrehari Empire seven decades ago. Starships engaged in commerce have replaced the battlecruisers, and much of that commerce flows through free ports established on what was once a disputed frontier. Yet even long after the armistice, the relationship between humans and an unfathomable, easily offended species remains tense. When someone assassinates a Shrehari trade emissary on Aquilonia Station, a human-owned free port dug into the crust of an airless moon, leaving a Commonwealth Navy officer as the sole suspect, everyone fears the worst. An alien envoy killed by a member of the Armed Services is a case for the Commonwealth Constabulary, humanity's interstellar police force. And with galactic peace at stake, the investigation lands on the desk of Chief Superintendent Caelin Morrow. As head of the Rim Sector's internal affairs division, Morrow has one of the more challenging and unpleasant jobs in the Constabulary. She investigates those in authority - members of the police, the military or government officials. That makes her one of the most disliked if not outright hated cops in the Commonwealth. However, Morrow and her officers are also known as the last of the incorruptibles. They're the ones with nothing left to lose, those who are highly skilled at uncovering and prosecuting malfeasance, no matter how powerful or wealthy their suspects might be. It makes them the ideal investigators to satisfy an angry Shrehari government. But soon after Morrow arrives on Aquilonia to establish the truth, she realizes there is something more ominous behind the Shrehari envoy's assassination than one of the seven deadly sins that usually motivate violent crimes. Was his murder an act of passion, or an act of politics? And what will the results of her investigation mean for the future of humanity's relations with its restive alien neighbor?
Wanted by their enemies for exposing the Black Sword cabal and faced with the difficult task of rebuilding the Special Operations Division while treason remains rampant, Major Zack Decker and Commander Hera Talyn are stuck in desk jobs. Until, that is, the Coalition and its minions decide to make things very personal. Forced back into the role of field operatives, they discover a plot to destabilize an entire sector and bring it under the iron-fisted control of a Commonwealth government eager to abandon democracy in favor of imperial dreams. Racing against time and soulless foes, they have one chance to prevent a civil war and rescue someone more precious to Zack Decker than any other living thing in the entire universe: the daughter he hasn't seen for twenty years. Not even the threat of disgrace and imminent death are enough to deter Decker because, as his foes will find out once again, he's still one of the Few...

Zack Decker wanted only one thing in life: to fight as a Marine Pathfinder. But his temper and his loathing for careerist officers cost him dearly. Forced into early retirement, with a wife who left him long ago, no job, no friends and no future, the former sergeant crawled into a bottle and stayed there, moving from planet to planet, looking for some reason to keep on living. Until, that is, he wandered into a bar owned by an old Marine buddy who offered to help. On the run after killing a corrupt cop, and nowhere to hide, he accepted. Decker would have done better to head for the hills, or surrender to the militia, however old friends could be persuasive and he soon found himself signing on as security officer of a starship with dubious owners and a dubious crew, doing things for his new employer that tested the old saying 'Once a Marine, always a Marine.' Curiosity was Decker's other major failing and in short order he was on the run, hunted by a shadowy government organisation, and in possession of a secret that could destroy the Commonwealth. It was a secret to die for, and the people on his trail wanted to make sure he did. Along the way, they forgot that he could still fight like one of the Few...
Some people never learn that it's a really bad idea to mess with a Marine Pathfinder, even one who has been forced into early retirement. Zack Decker just wanted to be left alone so he could live a quiet life with the woman he loved and make up for lost time, but his enemies simply couldn't resist the temptation to pursue their vendetta. One moment, he was hauling cargo across the depths of interstellar space, the next he was in the hands of pirates and headed for the barbaric worlds beyond the Coalsack nebula, to be sold into captivity. Marines don't make good slaves and Zack was more than happy to show everyone why he should have been killed straight away, because he was coming back, looking for blood. Revenge might be cold comfort, but he would remind them once again that he was still one of the Few...
Someone was setting fire to the Commonwealth Rim, nurturing a storm to drag humanity through the horrors of colonial warfare and thereby hasten the rise of Empire. Their plan had just one fatal flaw: it didn't count on an ex-Marine pathfinder with a grudge, a dagger and a deadly partner. Zack Decker had seen enough of war to know this one had to be stopped before it turned into an all-out bloodbath, even if that meant ignoring orders and risking his mission as well as his life. After all, he was still one of the Few...
Every Marine has a story about someone he couldn't save, a face that would haunt him forever. When Command Sergeant Hal Tarra, one of Decker's oldest friends, vanishes on the Commonwealth frontier shortly after taking early retirement from the Corps, Zack knows what memories are driving the former Pathfinder, because he sees the same face in his worst nightmares. Naval intelligence isn't interested in resurrecting ancient history, especially the tale of a failed rescue after it had been consigned to the memory hole. So Decker does the only thing he can, out of friendship and loyalty, and the hope that he might finally redeem the one they'd thought lost long ago: he orders himself on an unsanctioned mission, beyond Fleet support, risking everything for a friend. His intelligence colleagues never could understand the Marine promise, "No One Left Behind" but as he keeps reminding them, he's still one of the Few...
Covert missions are failing, Fleet officers are vanishing, and Naval Intelligence is losing its eyes, ears, and the ability to strike at its foes. After Zack Decker and Hera Talyn, the Special Operations Section's deadliest agents, narrowly escape betrayal for the third time in a row, the Marine suspects something more than bad luck is in play. For years, the Fleet has been fighting a shadowy cold war against factions in the Commonwealth determined to strangle democracy and give birth to an empire. Has that war turned hot without warning? In a quest for answers, Zack Decker volunteers to undertake his riskiest mission yet. With treason rampant at the heart of the Fleet, perhaps even within Naval Intelligence itself, he and Talyn must disappear until they discover the identity of their unseen enemies. Along the way, Decker will come face to face with humanity's worst impulses and its noblest spirits. And though he can't trust his colleagues and superiors, other than his partner Hera, he knows he can always trust his Pathfinder comrades to stand tall against disloyalty. The Marine Corps' elite will gladly join him in teaching traitors the real meaning of unrestrained covert warfare. After all, spy or not, Zack Decker is still one of the Few.
