In January 1940 Fred Ellison joined the RAF and was sent to serve in the Far East on 1st June 1941. On 8th March 1942 Fred was captured as a Prisoner of War and was released on 15th September 1945. During this time family members wrote weekly despite not knowing whether Fred was alive from March 1942 until 30 December 1943 when his wife Alice received a postcard notifying her that he was a POW. The letters transcribed are the surviving letters that Fred did not tell anyone about until he showed one to his niece Irene in the 1980s. This is a book that Fred wished to have made for future generations to gain an insight into what the family went through during this time.

Boomerist Fred Lavner is a funny guy with a lot to say about almost everything. People that piss him off. Bad customer service. Outrageous rules and regulations. Food labeling. Pretentious restaurants. High costs of living and dying. School teachers behaving badly. Political incorrectness. Not being able to find something to watch on 900 cable TV channels. Keeping up with celebutards. Getting out of jury duty. Popping off about internet pop up ads. Making sense of chocolate farts and other delights. Lavner's got a funny way of looking at things!

This creative non-fiction work is based upon the romance and actual love letters of Marie Antoinette "Nettie" Stuntebeck and Fred Marion Fister from 1900-1904. Before radio, television, and autos, they carried on their romance separated by 100 miles, a full day's round trip by train, not manageable on horseback. They faced deadly plagues, putrid water systems, horrific accidents, violence, murders, and vicious political turmoil, including the assassinations of Kentucky Governor Goebel and US President William McKinley. Women had no right to vote and were blocked from many occupations. About the only reliable things they had were local daily newspapers and United States Postal Service mail delivery 365 days a year (366 in Leap Years), including Sundays and holidays.

Creative non-fiction based upon the romance & actual love letters between two Kentuckians from 1900-1904. Before radio, television, and autos, they carried on their romance separated by 100 miles, a full day's round trip by train and not manageable by buggy or horseback. Times and love were fraught with danger. They faced deadly plagues, putrid water systems, horrific accidents, violence, murders, and vicious political turmoil that included the assassinations of Kentucky Governor William Goebel and U.S. President William McKinley. Women had no vote, few rights, and were blocked from many occupations. Men were expected to be sole financial providers, reliably smart, brave and stable. Life's choices thwarted dreams as both yearned for a bit or sweetness to make life bearable. About the only reliable things they had were local daily newspapers and US Postal Service mail delivery 365 days a year (366 in leap years), including Sundays and holidays. Their letters engendered curiosity & this book.

Fred Crawford and Fifty Golden Years of Philanthropy
During the "Fifty Golden Years" in which Mr. Hardie advised more than 200 non-profits relative to fundraising, the techniques he developed were intertwined with volunteer leaders, such as Fred Crawford, and were vital to his success and the success of the philanthropic efforts he helped organize. "People give to people, not to causes" became a truism which he repeated often to institutional trustees and others interested in fundraising - - Mr. Hardie just told them how to do it and gave them the ammunition for success. This book reveals humorous stories about colorful and well-known community leaders, illustrates the motivational points Mr. Hardie imparted to new fundraising volunteers, and presents the history of these significant philanthropic times in Northeast Ohio and across the nation.
