The Progressive Architecture Of Frederick G. Scheibler, Jr

Frederick G. Scheibler, Jr. (1872–1958) was the rare turn-of-the-century American architect who looked to progressive movements such as Art Nouveau and Arts and Crafts for inspiration, rather than conventional styles. His fresh house designs and plans for apartment buildings and multifamily "group cottages" feature dramatic massing, rich detailing, and a wide variety of materials. Scheibler envisioned each building as a work of art, integrating architecture and ornamentation. Prized today, his best works are scattered throughout Pittsburgh's East End and eastern suburbs. This richly illustrated volume, the first comprehensive study of Scheibler, includes 125 historic and contemporary photographs and drawings, a catalogue raisonné of all of his known projects—including many not recorded in any other published source—a list of books in his library, and a selected bibliography.
Early Protestant Educators: The Educational Writings of Martin Luther, John Calvin, and Other Leaders of Protestant Thought
""Early Protestant Educators: The Educational Writings Of Martin Luther, John Calvin, And Other Leaders Of Protestant Thought"" by Frederick Eby is a comprehensive study of the educational ideas and practices of some of the most prominent leaders of the Protestant Reformation. The book examines the works of Martin Luther, John Calvin, and other influential figures, exploring their views on education, the role of the church in education, and the importance of literacy and learning. The book begins with an overview of the historical context of the Protestant Reformation and the role of education in the movement. It then delves into the writings of Luther, Calvin, and others, analyzing their ideas on topics such as the purpose of education, the role of the teacher, and the relationship between faith and learning. The book also explores the practical applications of these ideas, examining the establishment of Protestant schools and universities and the development of new educational methods and curricula. Additionally, it discusses the impact of the Protestant Reformation on education in Europe and beyond, including its influence on the development of modern education systems.Overall, ""Early Protestant Educators"" provides a comprehensive and insightful look at the educational ideas and practices of the Protestant Reformation, shedding light on the enduring legacy of these influential thinkers and their impact on education and society as a whole. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world's literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.

When Eugene Martin couldn't afford drawing paper in the mid-1970', he would make pen and ink drawings on paper napkins. A hieroglyphic archetype would suddenly appear. He would later incorporate many of these napkin drawings in mixed media collages in the late 1980's and 1990's in Washington D.C. and Lafayette LA. Other secret languages were written down with graphite pencil and pen & ink on regular paper. These artworks can also be viewed at http://youtube.com/nemastoma.
