This book describes the environmental and health risks related to exposure to gasoline, genome susceptibility, possible forms of genetic monitoring, and protective attitudes that should be taken. A substantial fieldwork report, which was carried out at 11 gas stations in Rio de Janeiro, has been included in this book. The risks of gas stations in various countries are discussed with illustrations. The authors of this book sincerely hope to contribute to the prevention of health problems among gas station workers.

The Spanish colonization dramatically interrupted the autonomous development of ancient Mesoamerican culture. Nevertheless, indigenous societies learnt to live with the conquest. It was not only a time of crisis, but also an extraordinarily creative time period in which material culture reflected indigenous peoples’ varied responses and adaptations to the changing circumstances. This work presents insights into the process of cultural continuity and change in the indigenous world by focusing on pottery technology in the Nahua (Aztec) region of Central Mexico. La violence symbolique, concept de Pierre Bourdieu, est-elle une r ponse au fait que les in galit s perdurent dans notre soci t entre les femmes et les hommes? Si elle en est une, comment peut-on esp rer qu'une galit soit effective alors m me que cette violence est invisible et que les femmes participent sa reproduction? Pour r pondre cette probl matique, ce travail de recherche se d cline en deux temps principaux. Dans le premier, il s'agit de comprendre le paradigme de Bourdieu sur la domination masculine, d'en rep rer ses limites et de le confronter aux concepts de genre et de st r otypes de genre. Il s'agira galement d'observer l' volution du regard d pr ciant pos sur les femmes et comment elles ont su faire fi de celui-ci et de leur propre habitus pour revendiquer des droits et faire voluer notre d mocratie. Le deuxi me temps permet de d couvrir les r sultats de deux enqu tes. Si le paradigme de Bourdieu, en particulier l'habitus, reste explorer, il nous permet de mieux comprendre les obstacles internes propres aux femmes pour sortir de la domination masculine.
