The basic question to consider here, is whether society believes itself, in the slightest matured, or are we still, only children? Are we all, still supervising ants, as they do their work, which is nothing more than child's play, or are we all put out to pasture, to watch the grass grow, with the dignity of our years? Having a tendency to venerate old time Native American, as a group of nations, from before the time of the wasichu, having had a taste of his strongest power plants, I consider myself to be one who has some basic understanding of the more obscure mysteries of life and death, which others cannot know.

For years we've been told that traditional foods are unhealthy because of their saturated fat content. In place of grass-fed meat, grass-fed dairy products, and eggs from hens running on pasture, we now mostly eat grain-fed meat and processed factory foods - and we've witnessed an epidemic of disease, from type-2 diabetes to heart disease and cancer.Modern agriculture has locked us into an unhealthy, vicious circle, with degraded foods pouring from an overstretched, impoverished landscape. There's a simple remedy: the grass-fed movement. We can make sure that the meat, dairy foods and eggs we buy come from animals grazing on or running in pasture, as they always used to. This will also put life back into our soils and wildlife back onto our farmland.Graham Harvey, agricultural advisor to BBC Radio 4's The Archers, lays out all the arguments for grass-fed food - why it's good for us, and why it's good for the planet.

This is an autobiography, i.e. a memoir. The first volume starts with my memories from childhood, under the authoritarian Horthy government, continues with my escape from the staging area, where the nazi ArrowCross man took me to deport to the concentration camps in Germany. In the next chapters I describe my life hiding first in a Catholic monastery, than at the home of our former housekeeper. After the war the chapters contain my memories about school, friends, and my first loves, and finally the 1956 Hungarian Revolution and my escape to the West. The second volume contains my experiences as an immigrant, then my life as a medical student at McGill University in Montreal, my married life, my postgraduate training and finally, my immigration to the United States. In this part I describe my work as a professor, as a researcher and as a doctor. I write about the difficulties of married life of two professionals, both without money, about the problems and rewards of having a child. At the end I write about my retirement, about finding a partner after my wife's death, and about my conclusions about the life, the World and in particular the US.

"In the ancient tradition of poet-as-traveler-and-seer, Barry Hill's Grass Hut Work is, like Basho's Narrow Road to the Interior, both a travelogue of Japan and a journey inward, into what we'll call the Soul-for lack of a better word. He sees with fresh eyes the merger of history and presence, and presents us vital insight at every turn. "In the grass hut," he says, "I strive to be nobody," and thereby becomes an everyman, an exemplar, a master and unsui, a beginner. Beautiful and quietly powerful, this is work to return to again and again." -Sam Hamill

Books about injury prevention tend to explain only the principles and leave it to the practitioner to apply them in the course of their everyday interactions. Thus there is a large gap, between "what works in principle" and "how to make it work in practice". The purpose of this book is to translate the principles of injury prevention to the specific circumstances that community workers face. The GRIP Guide contains eight modules. The first module gives an overview of the principles of injury prevention and safety promotion. Modules two through six describe how to address the five categories / types of injuries (burns, falls, drowning, transport injuries, poisoning). Module seven provides a generic approach that covers other unintentional injuries and module eight deals with the response to intentional injuries (violence). This guide takes the form of a series of exercises that reader can use when working with community members to promote community participation and intersectoral collaboration as a means of achieving a safe environment.

"Whatever Tasneem Hossain depicts becomes vital to exploring meaning of life in our otherwise occupied consciousness. And her diction makes the subjects, be it myriad facets of nature, or our tears, smiles and sighs, come so alive that her poetry, in effect, verges on a visual art. Her poems inspire emotions and are crafted in soulful words. Both stir the hearts of many to pause, think and feel a renewed urge for life. A stellar example of how simple words can craft profound feelings into a beautiful piece of poetry."- Reja Syed Ali, Literary Critic, Bangladesh "Tasneem Hossain I'm waiting for your next book to hit the shelves. In a time when there's so much anger and hurt in the world, reading your poems has a calming effect. A beautiful change. Thank you for that."- Ian Ross, Accountant, Canada "As a poet, Tasneem Hossain bears a pensive elegance of understanding the personal, emotional and social worlds where we live in. And thus, her poems captivate any sentient reader because of the thoughtful, lyrical attire they wear. Her poetic persona, admittedly, helps us to discover the equally poetic reader residing within ourselves. Her poems are a lyrical journey of sensitivity and contemplation."- Faheem H. Shahed, PhD, Academic & Writer, Bangladesh "Tasneem Hossain's collections of poems invite contemplation, appreciation and understanding about the exquisiteness of nature, create awareness about society, portray human emotions and highlight human responsibilities. The rhythm and choice of words combine brilliant imagery. Each word counts with linguistic turns, skillful line breaks and use of alliteration and metaphors. Her poems are deep and beautiful. The Pearl Necklace is a must read over and over again."- Farhana Haque Rahman, Executive Director, IPS Inter Press Service, Canada "The Pearl Necklace will provide people unique insight about the beauty of social relationships through a collection of eye opening poems. Thank you for your eloquent contributions to literature at home and abroad."- Doly Begum, MPP, Canada
