Carl Heinz Ratschow (1911-1999). Life and Thought of a Theological Encyclopedist] Ratschow, a German systematic theologian and scholar of old-oriental, Old Testament and religious studies, taught in Munster and Marburg. In his Magie und Religion, Der angefochtene Glaube, Die Religionen, etc. he broke up the narrow soteriological approach of Barthianism by unfolding the implications also of creation theology for ethics, ecology, and theology of religions already before becoming public concerns. He fostered Tillich-research and founded the Neue Zeitschrift fur Systematische Theologie and Theologische Realenzyklopadie. Vis a vis the increasing specialization of theology and its growing gap to church practice, he developed an encyclopedic method by analyzing the present challenge, discussing it in the light of Biblical exegesis as well as in the context of other religions, and via church history (the tradition connecting Bible and today) he returned with the findings to the present.

Building Guderian's Duck -- Germany's Response to the Eastern Front Antitank Crisis, 1941-1945: Enhanced with Text Analytics by PageKicker Fast Heinz
The appearance of the T-34 in 1941 caused a crisis for German antitank forces. Existing antitank guns were nearly impotent against the new Russian tank, while antiaircraft and artillery pieces, though successful when pressed into action, were insufficiently mobile to accompany mechanized forces. The German Army Ordnance Office, the Heereswaffenamt, was responsible for development of new weapons and would be responsible for countering the threat of Russian armor. The Heereswaffenamt would need to not only counter the T-34, but also do so in an environment of shifting political relationships and with an increasingly stressed industrial system. Utilizing lessons from the bitterly contested battlefields of western Russia, the Heereswaffenamt developed a tank destroyer, the Jagdpazer IV, using the existing chassis of the Panzer IV tank, and the guns of both the Panzer IV and Panther tanks. The Jagdpanzer IV, known by its crews as GuderianYs Duck, proved to be a capable tank killer against both the T-34 threat of 1941 and 1942, as well as the improved versions of 1943 and 1944.

As the military continues transformation and focuses on capabilities-based organizations to meet guidance provided in the National Security Strategy and The Quadrennial Defense Review, the Army is in position to redefine operational maneuver. Currently, the Army does not conduct operational maneuver with mechanized forces using inter- or intra-theater lift because of the limitations of the current force. The weight of our heavy forces limits the ability to attack the enemy throughout the operational depth of the battlespace with ground maneuver forces. As the Army transitions to a Future Combat System (FCS) equipped force, the possibilities for operational maneuver by armored forces can grow exponentially. A lighter force possessing the same lethality of the Army's current heavy force can provide numerous options to support operational maneuver. The purpose of this monograph is to prove the Army can redefine operational maneuver with the FCS and support of the Joint Force. As we look forward on the ability of the FCS to redefine operational maneuver there are examples throughout history which display how major changes in warfare where developed through new and innovative applications of the technology available. The primacy of maneuver over firepower was established at the beginning of World War II. In order for the FCS to redefine operational maneuver the Army must be successful in the Joint Fight. Failure to dominate in this area will prevent the setting of the conditions that allow the FCS a tactical system to have operational and strategic success. The author proposes the formation of a new force known as the Air Ground Expeditionary Force (AGEF) which will provide Combatant Commanders with an air and ground capability for operations in their respective area of operations. This force will establish habitual relationships between AEF's and UA's identified as early deploying units. The AEF provides a strike capability but in order to take full advantage of the rapid deployability of the FCS equipped UA inter-theater assets are required. The failure to form this new force does not prevent the redefining of operational maneuver through execution using intra and inter-theater lift to move a FCS equipped Unit of Action although such a force will provide Combatant Commanders a Joint Force capable of both ground and air operations.Enhanced with automatic summarization, keyword identification, and wordcloud by PageKicker Robot Fast Heinz.
Testing and Fielding of the Panther Tank and Lessons for Force XXI: Enhanced with Text Analysis by PageKicker Robot Fast Heinz
This research project looks at the dangers of employing new equipment that has not been fully tested. The instrument for study was the German Army's employment of the Panther tank at the Battle of Kursk in 1943. This subject was chosen today because the U. S. Army has the potential of using unproven technology in armed conflict. This potential exists because the Army is trying to leverage technology against its force structure. With all branches of the armed services facing budget cut battles today, andexpecting budget cuts to continue for the foreseeable future, the U.S. Army as well as the other services, can expect smaller budgets to reduce force structure. The Army will use technology as leverage to make up for this loss in force structure.Enhanced with text analytics by PageKicker Robot Fast Heinz.
