Aluminum Recycling

Aluminum Recycling

Mark E. Schlesinger

CRC Press
2017
nidottu
What makes this book unique is a specific focus on aluminum recovery, rather than just recycling in general. It also offers an integrated discussion of scrap recovery and re-melting operations and includes economic as well as technical elements of recycling. Important topics include a discussion of the scrap aluminum marketplace and how secondary aluminum is collected and sorted, the design and operation of furnaces for melting scrap, the refining of molten aluminum, and the recovery and processing of dross from re-melting operations. This second edition features more information on aluminum scrap pricing and the economics of recycling, the analysis of dross processing methods currently in use by the industry, and drosses produced. The book has been updated throughout to include the most up-to-date information.

Nietzsche’s Philosophy of Education makes the case that Nietzsche’s ?philosophy has ?significant import for the theory and contemporary practice of education, arguing that ?some of ?Nietzsche?'s most important ?ideas ?have been misunderstood by ?previous ?interpreters. ?In ?providing novel reinterpretations of ?Nietzsche's ?ethical theory, political? philosophy? and philosophical anthropology ?and outlining concrete ways in which ?these ideas can enrich teaching and learning in modern democratic schools, the book sets itself apart? from previous works on Nietzsche?. This is one of the first ?extended engagements with Nietzsche’s philosophy ?which attempts to determine his true legacy for democratic education.?In its engagement with both the vast secondary literature on Nietzsche's philosophy and the educational implications of his philosophical vision, this book makes a unique contribution to both the philosophy of education and Nietzsche scholarship. In addition, its ?development of four concrete pedagogi?cal approaches from Nietzsche's educational ideas ?makes the book a potentially helpful guide to meeting the practical challenges of ?contemporary teaching. This book will be of great interest to Nietzsche scholars, researchers in the philosophy of education and ??students studying educational foundations.
Lasers in Space: Technological Options for Enhancing US Military Capabilities
The emerging importance of space-based systems is matched by the maturing of laser technology, giving a potential synergy to enhance military capability. For example, global awareness is one of the AF goals to give the US military the competitive advantage in future conflicts. Obtaining global awareness requires a tremendous amount of information being acquired and transferred over vast distances. Space-based laser communication satellites offer the potential of greatly increased data rates, which is just one example of how lasers in space could significantly improve US military capabilities. Recent strategic planning studies have identified various concepts for lasers in space, including both laser weapons and collateral applications such as communication and remote sensing. Four functional classes of systems (enabling, information-gathering, information-relaying, and energy delivery) serve to organize the various concepts and relate them to the new AF core competencies as well as the traditional AF roles. This study analyzes these concepts, scoring them for technical feasibility, technical maturity, operational enhancement and operational cost. The most promising concepts include space-based laser target designation, space-based battlefield illumination, laser communication, and active remote sensing for battle damage assessment and weather characterization. Several strategies can accelerate the development of space-based laser systems, such as using the new AF battlelabs and advanced technology demonstrations.
