Matthew: The Place of Faith in the Life of a Family With an Autistic Child by Fr. Louis Fowoyo is a non-fictional, faith-centred book about Matthew, who suffers form autism. His inspiring story embodies hope in the face of hardship.Matthew was born one month premature. He was diagnosed with autism at the age of four. He was non-verbal, with severe sensory and behavioural problems. Even with a whole team of specialists trying to help him, nothing seemed to be working and I was at my wits end.A friend of mine recommended that I take him to a naturopath doctor, who told us Matthew had severe allergies to gluten, dairy, and a few others confirmed by blood work. The doctor recommended a strict diet and supplements. He told us it would take a year to clean him out.Astonishingly, when the year finished, Matthew began to talk. He had fewer behavioural problems, but still had a ways to go.Matthew is now 20 years old, finishing grade 12 by home schooling. He still needs care in areas, but he's a loving, bright man with a great sense of humour. We all love him very much.I recommend to others prayer, love, patience, naturopathic help, and diet.

Matthew - the visit of the Magi, the Sermon on the Mount, the Great Commission: these are only a few of the well-known passages that draw readers specifically to Matthew's gospel. Yet it begins with a forbidding list of unknown names and apparently irrelevant 'begettings'. In fact, the early church may have placed Matthew first in the New Testament because it more fully than any other Gospel provides a Christian perspective on the relation between the church and the Jews, an issue that is still important today. R. T. France tackles this and other key issues in the Gospel with clarity, reliability and relevance. This classic commentary has been completely retypeset and presented in a fresh, vibrant new large paperback format, with new global branding.

Matthew was the most popular Gospel in the early church, widely read for its clear emphasis on Jesus' teaching. Drawing on its use as a teaching or discipleship manual, Craig Keener expounds Matthew as a discipleship manual for believers today. In his skilled hands, this first-century text becomes as relevant and contemporary as information downloaded from the Internet, while it challenges us with its divine perspective on how life ought to be lived. In this clear, incisive commentary, readers will find an introduction with background material concerning authorship, date and purpose, as well as a summary of important theological themes. A passage-by-passage exposition follows that focuses on understanding what significance the Gospel of Matthew had for its original readers in order to see its relevance for the church today. Students, pastors, Bible teachers and everyone who wants to understand the message of Matthew for the church will benefit from this excellent resource.

For sheer interest, 1 Samuel is unsurpassed. Not only does it recount eventful history, it is eventful history interwoven with the biographies of three colourful personalities, Samuel, Saul, and David. The book can be divided up with reference to these three biographies:1 - In Chapters 1-7 it is Samuel who is prominent.2 - In Chapters 8-15 Saul is under consideration.3 - In Chapters 16-31 it is David who is the focus of attention.

Matthew's personal calling is chronicled in each of three synoptic gospels. Luke calls him "Levi the tax-gatherer," Mark refers to him as "Levi, the son of Alphaeus," and Matthew names himself as Matthew but further identifies himself as "the tax collector." In Matthew, author Dennis Cornish offers a commentary on the gospel of Matthew. These verses are followed by applicable commentary which combines studied research, including a lifetime of personal study and devotion as well as referenced and cited discussion from various authors ranging from early church fathers to recognized contemporary theologians. Where applicable, Cornish cross references both Old and New Testament verses to enhance the understanding, as well as to incorporate the whole counsel of God's word. He also includes supporting information from extra Biblical sources such as Strong's Lexicon, the Westminster Theological Dictionary, ancient Jewish historians, the Apostle's Creed, the Nicene Creed, the Westminster Confession of Faith, and many more such creeds and confessions. Cornish uses the truths found in scripture, and in this case in the book of Matthew, to offer insight into the life and times of Jesus as it was chronicled by Matthew who was an eyewitness to the events that took place surrounding Jesus during his earthly ministry.
