When early explorers and settlers arrived in New Zealand, they found the islands already populated by the Polynesian Maori people. This account details the interaction between the Maori leaders and the British Crown from first contact to New Zealand's eventual autonomy. As settlers outnumbered Maori, the struggle for land resulted in war and confiscations, and Maori loss of land and traditional lifestyle was accompanied by widespread ill health. It would be well into the twentieth century before the Crown would have to address promises made to the Maori in the 1840 Treaty of Waitangi, and the resulting efforts of the Waitangi Tribunal would forever change Maori relations with the Pakeha (New Zealanders of European descent).During recent decades, both groups have come to understand the complexity of the situation in New Zealand. The Pakeha have learned Maori sentiments regarding forests, flora, and language; and the Maori have come to realize that today's Pakeha should not be penalized by attempts at redress. The Maori have gradually acquired a larger role in dealing with their own affairs and addressing social inequalities, and recent electoral changes have resulted in a stronger Maori voice in Parliament. While serious tension remains and some Pakeha argue for one law for all, steps have been taken toward more harmonious relations.

The Shire County of Monmouth in the United Kingdom of Great Britain has a strangely ambiguous history. In the C16, it was more than twice as large as it is now, and lay nestled between England and Wales, but was not connected to either politically, as if it fell from the sky, to fill a hole between the two nations, because nature abhors a vacuum. The "Harri" of this story was a child prot g of this Shire County, born into a junior chapter of a bloodline of savants bred by the Holy Roman Catholic Church after Christianization of the Roman Empire from the third son of Adam and Eve, Seth. Seth's significance was that it was unto him that God gave the gift of savantism to counter Baal, Angel of Chaos, who had been cast from Heaven for having assisted the famously unsuccessful challenge of Satan to rule Heaven. From little more than a country bumpkin, our hero rose to Vice Admiral of the British military in the Caribbean, Acting Governor of Jamaica, and Knight of the Garter. The sexual potency of the first of these promotions took him by surprise, as previously, his savantism made him as ambiguous in this department of life as the Shire County of his birth had been about who it was. He had been betrothed to his wife, the "Marri" of this story, at about seven years of age, the youngest and plainest daughter of the senior chapter of the family bloodline, namely, his father's eldest brother. This story essays their intimate exploration of each other due to his attaining this explosive potency.

Dear Journal, Today is a big day for my teammates, best friend, dance teacher and me. Today we will be competing against forty nine other states for the title of 2019 National Dance Champions Just like at State, I will be dancing a solo, as well as dancing a group dance with my best friend and teammates. All of us have worked hard to get to Nationals. With this said, I really want us to win today Even though it is an exciting day, it is also a sad one for me. This is the first competition that Mom will not be at. Even though I miss her like crazy every day, I miss her even more today. With this said, I am so thankful to have Daddy. Even though we have always been close and had a strong bond, we have become closer and our bond has become stronger. Helping each other through the grief over these past couple of months has strengthened our relationship. Continuing to speak of Dad, he has thankfully gotten permission to watch me do my solo and group dance from backstage. Bea has also thankfully gotten the permission to watch my solo from backstage, too. Knowing that these two will be watching me gives me a form of comfort and peace. After all, this is one of those times where I need them now more than ever.-Beverly
