A severe gag reflex is an impediment in successful completion of certain dental procedures as it leads to avoidance of dental treatment for some and for others sedation or general anesthesia remains the only option to cope with the dental treatment. Even the basic dental procedures like impression making especially of the upper arch leads to increased levels of stress suffered by patients and often lead to salivation, lacrimation, or even vomiting. Hence, the present study was taken up to evaluate the effect of low-level laser therapy in stimulating the PC 6 acupressure point for reducing the gag reflex. Gag reflex was evaluated by performing the nerve stimulating test. In patients having gag reflex, stimulation of PC6 point was done by low-level laser.

Ein ausgepr gter W rgereflex ist ein Hindernis f r den erfolgreichen Abschluss bestimmter zahn rztlicher Verfahren, da er bei einigen Patienten dazu f hrt, dass sie eine zahn rztliche Behandlung vermeiden, w hrend f r andere eine Sedierung oder Vollnarkose die einzige M glichkeit bleibt, die zahn rztliche Behandlung zu bew ltigen. Selbst grundlegende zahn rztliche Eingriffe wie die Abdrucknahme, insbesondere im Oberkiefer, f hren zu einem erh hten Stresslevel bei den Patienten und oft zu Speichelfluss, Tr nenfluss oder sogar Erbrechen. Daher wurde in der vorliegenden Studie die Wirkung der Low-Level-Lasertherapie bei der Stimulierung des Akupressurpunkts PC 6 zur Reduzierung des W rgereflexes untersucht. Der W rgereflex wurde mit Hilfe des Nervenstimulationstests untersucht. Bei Patienten mit W rgereflex wurde der PC6-Punkt mit einem Low-Level-Laser stimuliert.

Mesmo os procedimentos dent rios b sicos, como a moldagem, especialmente da arcada superior, levam a um aumento dos n veis de stress dos doentes e provocam frequentemente saliva o, lacrimejo ou mesmo v mitos. Assim, o presente estudo foi realizado com o objetivo de avaliar o efeito da terapia laser de baixa intensidade na estimula o do ponto de acupress o PC 6 para reduzir o reflexo de v mito. O reflexo de v mito foi avaliado atrav s da realiza o do teste de estimula o nervosa. Nos doentes com reflexo de v mito, a estimula o do ponto PC6 foi efectuada com laser de baixa intensidade.

Un riflesso gastrico grave un ostacolo al completamento di alcune procedure odontoiatriche, poich per alcuni porta a evitare il trattamento odontoiatrico, mentre per altri la sedazione o l'anestesia generale rimangono l'unica opzione per affrontare il trattamento odontoiatrico. Anche le procedure odontoiatriche di base, come la presa d'impronta, soprattutto dell'arcata superiore, comportano un aumento dei livelli di stress per i pazienti e spesso provocano salivazione, lacrimazione o addirittura vomito. Pertanto, il presente studio stato intrapreso per valutare l'effetto della terapia laser a basso livello nella stimolazione del punto di agopressione PC 6 per ridurre il riflesso di vomito. Il riflesso del vomito stato valutato eseguendo il test di stimolazione nervosa. Nei pazienti che presentavano il riflesso del vomito, la stimolazione del punto PC6 stata effettuata con il laser a basso livello.
