Willy the Whale and His Magic Tail
"Willy the Whale and His Magical Tail" by WF Taylor JR is an adorable children's book inspired by the stories I used to tell my four children when they were young. With their encouragement, along with that of my wife, I decided to write the story and share it with other children. The book follows Willy, a gentle whale with a magical tail that can do extraordinary things. One day, his friend Sammy the Seal visits him with a big problem- his teeth are hurting, and he fears they might fall out.The narrative introduces young readers to important themes like friendship, kindness, and the value of good habits, especially oral hygiene. Willy, with care and kindness, uses his magical tail to brush Sammy's teeth, making them clean and strong again. The simple rhymes and clear message make the story easy to follow, while entertaining and educating young readers. The book leaves them with a lasting lesson on the importance of daily oral care and the joy of helping others.

Willy Ronis curated and commentated on the iconic images featured in this beautiful volume that retraces his career and contributions to photography and photojournalism. A key figure in twentieth-century photography, Willy Ronis conveyed the poetic reality of postwar Paris and Provence in iconic black-and-white photographs. Influenced by Alfred Stieglitz and Ansel Adams, and amicable with his contemporary Magnum photographers, Ronis was the first French photographer to contribute to Life magazine. In the 1950s, MoMA curator Edward Steichen featured Ronis--along with Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Doisneau, and Brassa --in the groundbreaking exhibitions The Family of Man and Five French Photographers. Throughout his life, this powerhouse of humanist photography kept meticulous records of his work, curating each era into albums, which are reproduced here for the first time. Timeless photographs of postwar France and its inhabitants are accompanied by the photographer's original observations and comments, framing the images within their technical and historical context. Photography historian Matthieu Rivallin's critical perspective adds nuance to the photographer's notes, and the ensemble is a groundbreaking and definitive reference on the myriad aspects of the artists' immense career and an essential volume for all photography aficionados.

As a pioneer of modern design, Willy Guhl created world-famous furniture such as the Eternit garden chair or Europe’s first plastic shell chair. In the tradition of modernism and against the traditional Heimatstil, after 1945 he developed a holistic design approach oriented to human beings and their needs; functionality and reduction to the essential characterize his everyday objects. In collaboration with Swiss companies such as Dietiker, Eternit and Aebi, Willy Guhl designed seating furniture, planters and mowing machines. Willy Guhl’s designs, his teaching methods and his image archive bear witness to the innovations of the booming design industry of the post-war period and the changing professional image of the industrial designer. As a teacher and later head of the class for interior and product design at the Zurich School of Arts and Crafts from 1941 to 1980, Willy Guhl influenced generations of Swiss designers, including Robert Haussmann, Kurt Thut and Andreas Christen. The trained carpenter and interior designer passed on his design knowledge “hands-on,” with illustrative objects, by model making and storytelling. This first comprehensive monograph illuminates Willy Guhl’s legacy in the context of this design and teaching practice as well as current theories of the design discipline. As a thematically structured catalog of works, it offers a complete index of all design projects, and illustrates in sketches, plans and photographs his exploratory working method and his passion for material and technology, which is equally evident in the selection of exemplary student works.

Willy Meisl, “King of the Sports Journalists”
Willy Meisl was an Austrian-Jewish sports journalist who dominated the field during the Weimar Republic. A son of Viennese coffee houses, Meisl intellectualised sports writing in the interwar years, covering themes like professionalism, tactics and sporting antiquity for wide audiences, in styles more commonly found in the newspapers’ culture sections. Contemporaries called him the King of the Sports Journalists. But his work was affected profoundly by the Nazis’ rise to power, whereupon he began to write about Nazism’s roots, the terror it unleashed, and about the Jews and Jewish identity; exposing the fallacies of the racial theories that forced him into exile. This volume presents his most searing writings on these themes. Presented in their original German, but with introductory material in English, the texts show Meisl to be one of the interwar period’s foremost chroniclers of change, and will reintroduce readers to a now largely forgotten pioneer of journalism between the wars.
