Rose Garden of Mystery: Shabistari, Selected Poems: Mansur Hallaj: (Large Print & Large Format Edition)
ROSE GARDEN OF MYSTERY: SHABISTARI SELECTED POEMS: MANSUR HALLAJ (Large Print & Large Format Edition) Translation & Introduction Paul Smith The Rose Garden of Mystery was composed as a 1000 couplet long masnavi poem in the form of questions and answers on spiritual matters by Shabistari of Tabriz in 1317 at the request of his Spiritual Master. Since then it has been regarded as one of the finest books on Sufism. The correct rhyme-structure has been kept in this complete, modern translation and the power and meaning of this deep mystical, poem. He mentions the Perfect Master, poet & martyr Hallaj (died 919), was tortured and executed in Baghdad for declaring: "I am the Truth (Anal Haq)." Much has been written about his famous (and in¬famous) statement, but few of his powerful, often mysteries and always deeply conscious and spiritual poems in Arabic have been translated before from his Diwan into English, and in the poetic forms in which they were composed. Large Print 18pt., & Large Format Edition. 425 pages. Paul Smith (b.1945) is a poet, author and translator of many books of Sufi poets from the Persian, Arabic, Urdu, Turkish, Pashtu and other languages including Hafez, Hali, Sadi, Nizami, Rumi, 'Attar, Sana'i, Jahan Khatun, Obeyd Zakani, Mu'in, Amir Khusrau, Nesimi, Kabir, Anvari, Ansari, Jami, Omar Khayyam, Rudaki, Yunus Emre, Lalla Ded, Rahman Baba, Baba Latif, Iqbal, Seemab, Huma, Nazir and others, and his own poetry, fiction, plays, biographies and 12 screenplays. amazon.com/author/smithpa

ROSE GARDEN OF MYSTERY by SHABISTARI Translation by Paul Smith. Introduction by E.H. Whinfield & Paul SmithThe Rose Garden of Mystery was composed as a 1000 couplet long masnavi poem in the form of questions and answers on spiritual matters by Mahmud Shabistari of Tabriz in 1317 at the request of his Spiritual Master. Since then it has been regarded as one of the finest books on Sufism. E.G. Browne in his classic work, 'History of Persian Literature' calls this book "On the whole, one of the best manuals of Sufi theosophy that exists." Rev. John A. Subhan in his 'Sufism, Its Saints and Shrines' states, "We know little about the life of the author... But his work is important out of all comparison with the importance of the author because it is a compendium of Sufi terminology in the form of question and answer." This book reflects the following: - Prior to WWII, we were privileged to witness the last days of the horse-drawn ice wagons, the ragman, and even the musical Umbrella Fix-It Man. - All children in homes, churches, and schools were taught that their behavior was accountable to God, and it worked - Domestic violence and abuse of women were tolerated, and the woman was always to blame. - Immigrants achieved progress and wealth by the sweat of their brow. - Family destruction by means of divorce was acceptable, and still is, as long as lawyers and judges made money My prayer is that everyone who reads this book will realize the pain and suffering a corrupt legal system inflicts on families and that this book fall into the hands of a qualified person who can and will do something about it because divorces do not belong in the court system as a lawsuit.
