In the infinite voids of space, time had no meaning. No today. No yesterday. Suddenly, a gargantuan explosion tore through this nothingness. This caused the universe to be conceived and it spawned Leaffe, a supernatural being. She oversaw the creation of the universe and the creation of planets. On one planet, Zula, the people had advanced to such an extent that they overpopulated the planet by banning religions and the concomitant wars. This increased greenhouse gasses through the overuse of industry and the planet was heading for self-destruction. A space station, Haven, was built to house a select group, so their race would survive. When aliens, led by Shaitan, attacked the space station, Leaffe intervened. She helped a group of children to escape in the newly built spaceship Ark, which had been built on Haven using green technology. The crew on Ark travelled in D-stasis cocoons and did not age. This allowed Leaffe to take the Ark to a solar system many light-years away. Using the Ark's advanced technology, Leaffe subtly persuaded them to change the orbit of a planet closer to the sun, creating planet Earth. By leaving their cocoons only for short periods, they were able to observe and take part in the evolution of Earth from the dawn of the dinosaurs to Homo sapiens. Three of them stayed with the sapiens, but Shaitan arrived, with devastating consequences. The Ark returned thousands of years later, finding some frightening facts about Shaitan and that there was more than one Mitochondrial Eve.
A History of Rome from 133 B.C. to 70 A.D. (1904)
First published in 1904, this volume began what was to be the magnum opus of the highly regarded Classical scholar, A.H.J. Greenidge. Though published posthumously, the work stands alone as a valuable contribution to Classical history. Beginning with a socioeconomic history which exposes the conditions preceding and determining the great conflict of interests to follow, Greenidge then explores the story of Rome from Scipio Aemilianus and the Gracchi brothers until the second election of Marius to the consulship.

A comprehensive, detailed, illustrated history of Minnesota’s breeding birds-the first in nearly a century Unique among North American states, Minnesota sits squarely at the convergence of four major ecological regions, or biomes: aspen parklands, prairie grasslands, deciduous forest, and boreal forest. Consequently, the state hosts remarkably diverse avifauna. The Breeding Birds of Minnesota, the first comprehensive and in-depth assessment of Minnesota’s breeding birds in nearly a century, offers an unprecedented, extraordinarily detailed, finely illustrated account of 250 of those birds, including their historical and present breeding distribution, habitat, population abundance, and prospects for the future. For each species, The Breeding Birds of Minnesota gives a brief life history, providing Minnesota seasonal status, migration, foods consumed, nest structure, and name origin; a summary of identification hints, primary vocalizations, and specific features of distribution or behavior; and descriptions of breeding habitat, population abundance and trend, and conservation status and threats. The heart of each account focuses on the species’ statewide distribution and abundance, beginning with a wealth of historical information from ornithological records dating from the 1800s to the early twenty-first century. An assessment of the species’ current status draws on data collected by hundreds of participants over the course of five breeding seasons, from 2009 through 2013, which was published online in 2017 in the first Minnesota Breeding Bird Atlas. Along with permanent and complete documentation of Minnesota’s breeding birds from years past to present, this volume also identifies critical issues bird populations-and those who would protect them-will confront in coming years, including predictions of how each species will respond to climate change. Reference to T. S. Roberts’s foundational two-volume Birds of Minnesota (1936) also reveals the remarkable recovery of birds once consigned to extinction in the state (such as the American White Pelican, Sandhill Crane, and Common Raven) and the serious decline of others, like the Black Tern and Eastern Meadowlark. In The Breeding Birds of Minnesota, three of Minnesota’s premier ornithologists present an authoritative history of the state’s avifauna, from waterfowl and waterbirds to flycatchers, thrushes, sparrows, and warblers.

Six years ago the editors of the Encyclopedia of Medical Radiology selected two additional editors from the emerging generation of young radiologists to complete this unique compendium of radiology. Klaus Ranniger was one of them and he worked with enthusiasm and great energy at the challenge facing him. His editorial work was excellent and he succeeded in winning internationally acclaimed scientists to contribute to this volume. Their chapters have met the requirements and goals we set out to achieve in every aspect and to the highest degree. The majority of the authors valued Klaus Ranniger not only as a fellow scientist and doctor but also as a personal friend. In America, his adopted country, he found acknowledgement of his personal achievement and scientific research. He was highly respected and admired among specialists in the field of radiology. Klaus Ranniger, our coeditor and friend, died suddenly and unexpectedly before this volume could be published. We are honored to present this volume as his legacy. This book features three peer-reviewed reviews on rewilding in agriculture. The first chapter highlights the diversity of best practices used to rewild grasslands and rangelands, including those used to restore biological soil crusts, apply prescribed fire, increase stand establishment and persistence, overcome soil limitations, rectify nutrient pollution, and sequester soil carbon. The chapter also provides a case study on the restoration of sagebrush-steppe rangelands in the state of Utah, USA. The second chapter provides an overview of the trade-offs related to animal rewilding in agroecosystems (e.g. ecosystem services versus disservices). The chapter also discusses three key management trends the authors foresee will facilitate net positive outcomes in animal rewilding: capturing wild provisioning services, coordinating broad spatial heterogeneity in land use and employing coexistence conservation tactics. The final chapter outlines the benefits and challenges of rewilding in Australia and New Zealand and references four case studies to study this. The first two describe rewildings on formerly degraded agricultural land (Tiritiri Matangi Island, Scotia Sanctuary), while the third posits a conceptual rewilding program using a continental top predator, the dingo. The fourth case study describes a digitally-enabled survey and monitoring system on a mixed-agriculture farm that provides a step towards rewilding such landscapes in future.
Return of a Green Philosophy: The Wisdom of Óðinn, the Power of þórr, and Freyja's Power of Nature
If you find modern modes of thinking and being in the world seem shallow and leave you wanting more, let Dr. JC Husfelt introduce you to the ancient Norse-Germanic tradition-and the tremendous wisdom it offers for living in harmony with nature. Right now, change and transformation are needed. Society has lost many of the values treasured by past indigenous cultures, such as a partnership with nature, truth telling, and elder/ancestor respect and honor. An experienced mystic, cultural explorer, and shaman, Husfelt believes that a return to a green philosophy is needed. This is an egalitarian green philosophy of humanity's partnership with all things of the earth and nature. This concept played an important role in the Norse-Germanic mind. They were one with nature, respecting it and caring for it. If you believe nature must be respected and cherished by people who embrace truth, love, and equality, then dare to step outside the confines of your cultural restraints and learn from a tradition that has much to teach us all about these values. Husfelt offers readers the incredible chance to create a partnership with nature and a personal path to enlightenment and understanding through the use of primordial knowledge.
My First Bicycle Was A J.C. Higgins
A comedy about a 9 year old boy who is disappointed and concerned about his social status in his grammer school and community becauses he receives a J.C.Higgins bicycle instead of a Schwinn. To make his point he compares his J.C.Higgins to America's laughable version of an automobile....The Edsel. He talks about kids so desperate to not be associated with either the Edsel or the Higgins that they invented "Edsel Escape Diving." This was a precision move designed by kids so that when the parents slowed the family Edsel in order to pull into the school yard, the kids would leap from the car while it was still in motion. The purpose for that little manuver was to put as much distance as possible between themselves and the joke that Detroit played on an unsuspecting public.
