The Harley-Davidson Story: Tales from the Archives is a fascinating, visually driven overview of the motor company's rich story, created in cooperation with the Harley-Davidson Museum. The story of Harley-Davidson is a classic American tale of spirit, invention, and the right idea at the right time. From its beginning in a small Milwaukee shed in 1903, William Harley and his cousins, the Davidson brothers, set in motion what would eventually become the world’s most iconic motorcycle company. While other motorcycle companies rose and fell through the teens and 1920s, Harley went from strength to strength, whether introducing its first V-twin motor or dominating race tracks across America. The Milwaukee Miracle even prospered during WWII, building war bikes for the armed forces. By the 1950s, they’d buried their last American-built competitor, Indian, and gained a hold over the US market that they maintain to this day. A remarkable story deserves a remarkable space to recount it. Such is the Harley-Davidson Museum in Milwaukee, which opened in 2009. Harley-Davidson partnered with Motorbooks to create this book relaying Harley-Davidson’s story, as told through the museum’s displays and archive assets.

Harley-Davidson - Koko tarina esittää Harley-Davidson Motor Companyn historian ennennäkemättömällä tavalla.Harley-Davidson - Koko tarina: Kertomuksia arkistojen uumenista kertoo maineikkaan moottoripyörä-valmistajan värikkäät vaiheet voimakkaan visuaa-lisena ja kiehtovana kokonaisuutena. Harley-Davidson-museon laajan arkistokokoelman keskeiset esineet antavat autenttisuutta yhteistyössä museon kanssa laaditulle teokselle. Harley-Davidsonin tarina on klassinen amerikkalainen esimerkki inspiraatiosta, kekseliäisyydestä ja oikean ajatuksen osumisesta sopivaan aikaan. William Harleyn ja Davidsonin veljesten pieneen vajaan Milwaukeessa 1903 perustamasta pajasta tuli sittemmin maailman ikonisin moottoripyörä-yhtiö.

Shakespeare for American Actors and Directors

Fear grips many American actors and directors faced with the opportunity to perform Shakespeare live. The challenges of Elizabethan British speech patterns, the thought of using verse for hours, the debate over staging a period piece versus “updating” the Bard of Avon – all can cause psychogenic trauma on this side of the Atlantic. Let Broadway legend Aaron Frankel show the way in Shakespeare for American Actors and Directors. This book views Shakespeare's work through the lens of American performance, catering specifically to the learning sensibilities of American-bred talent. Its streamlined size and reader-friendly presentation make it a practical tool for actors and directors wishing to learn Bard-based performance tactics. Aaron Frankel plunges readers into the meanings of scenes so they can envision the interplay of characters and step into a role to experiment with ways to convey those meanings. He provides scene examples through which to apply performance techniques. To capture the spirit of the book in Frankel's words, “What is totally current is that Shakespeare's dramatic forte, which is the involvement of his characters with each other, and the core of American acting, which is actors affecting each other, make a perfect match.”

Prison is hard. Full stop. Devotionals and journaling help keep you centered while you do your time. Aaron never saw himself sitting in a prison cell, looking at twelve years. But even though his mother did what she could to keep him out of trouble, he let the streets raise him. When he thought his son was in trouble, he did what he thought a father was supposed to do. Now, the night that changed his life plays in his head like it is on a loop. Unless God intervenes, by the time he is released, his kids will be grown and his mother will be in her 80s. He wanted to be mad at God for the way it all went down, but it was not God's fault. God reminded Aaron that even though prison is wicked and feels like hell, both physically and spiritually, God is always with him.You are not defined by your bad actions. You are defined by the righteousness of God. In this 21-day devotional, you'll learn how to release yourself from the guilt that holds you in mental and emotional bondage and allow yourself to be used by God. No matter where you are. No matter how you got there. Aaron is now letting God undo the damage the devil did in his life for over two decades. He is learning to forgive himself because the guilt was killing him. He is learning how to stay strong for his family because even behind bars, they still need him. In Aaron's words, "I thought it would be cool to share what I'm living through and maybe it will help someone else. We may be in here for different reasons, but the bottom line is we're in here together. And I don't know one dude who wants to make a return trip when he gets out. I needed some peace. Writing this book helped me get that peace. Now I'm passing it on to you. Stay strong and do what I'm learning to do. Let go and let God do what God does." The Poem: A Bible (of sorts) for Strong Black Families

The Poem: A Bible (of sorts) for Strong Black Families

Aaron Franklin Jr

Independently Published
2019

In previous generations, one could expect to find at least two things in every Black household: a King James Bible and a portrait of Dr. King. This penetrating work of literary art - simply entitled, "The Poem" - will be the third essential item in every Black household for generations to come It is truly, a "Bible" for strong Black families While it is no replacement for the Bible itself, "The Poem" should be consulted - like the Good Book - on a regular basis. By seeking to pave anew, a highway riddled with the potholes of cultural discontinuity, the traffic jams of moral and ethical bankruptcy, and the convenient off-ramps of separation and divorce, Franklin seeks to provide the would be traveler with practical and spiritual alternatives which are far less costly than the toll roads of naked secularism. Franklin believes that there are few if any, shared values and virtues, convictions and commitments, intellectual threads and fibers among Black folk to weave together a tapestry of common thought as it relates to the family unit. What is the family? What is it's purpose? Why is it necessary? Who are its members and what are their respective roles? "To each of these questions," Franklin insists, "there are dangerously divergent responses across the spectrum of Black experience. And while the specter of police brutality against Blacks has forced each of our households to have 'the conversation' with our children about their words and actions in the event they get pulled over by an officer, we have yet to avail ourselves to any shared wisdom of how to navigate relationships which, all too often, prove to be just as deadly as a routine encounter with law enforcement The Poem was written to fill that void " Taken directly out of his seminal book, "Moving Blackwards," Franklin offers 'The Poem' as a pocket reference of sorts to those who prefer a short but salient read. The Poem covers everything from how to date and what to look for in a mate, to how to treat the elderly members of the family. It traces the sexual contours of marriage and treats the issues surrounding domestic violence. It offers direction both to the teens in the family, as well as to the larger community within which they learn and grow. It speaks with clarity and conviction to 'newlyweds' and 'old-heads' alike. It reflects both the poetic genius of Langston Hughes and the humorous gifts of Richard Pryor Yes "The Poem," is destined to be known and loved by all of Black America, as the 'other' good book
Structuring Sustainable Finance Transactions

Structuring Sustainable Finance Transactions

The rapid rise of green bonds, sustainability-linked loans and other sustainable finance transactions has been one of the most surprising developments in corporate finance over the past 15 years. Sustainable finance is rapidly growing as an educational subject among top universities, business schools and law schools, separate from the only somewhat related “ESG” and sustainable investing trends. But sustainable finance transactions are prone to being misunderstood, sometimes the subject of controversy and structured largely behind closed doors. Mainstream news outlets, NGOs and political leaders routinely criticize this evolving market, with arguments ranging from greenwashing (not doing enough) to anti-ESG (doing too much). Making matters worse, there is a dearth of pragmatic, comprehensive and objective resources to help students and practitioners go beyond a superficial understanding. This book will be a first-of-its-kind resource unlocking the mysteries of structuring and executing sustainable finance transactions. This book addresses the entire spectrum of new and emerging transaction types, as well as the rarely articulated concepts explaining why these deals work the way they do.
