Lessons from David: A reflection on the life of a man after God's own heart
What an honour for God Himself to call you a man after His own heart. This sort of privileged place in the heart and thoughts of God is one that is surely desired by every saint who reads of it. What gave David, a little shepherd boy, living in obscurity, not notable in any way-not even to his own family-such a place in the heart of God? What can we learn from the life of David through Scripture that will teach us what attributes, qualities, and behaviours made God hold David in such high regard? It turns out that there is a lot to learn from the Books of Samuel that can propel believers into the will of God. Journey through the Books of 1 & 2 Samuel, and explore the thoughts and actions of David that both made him a great king and an honourable servant of God. Learn how you, too, can live an exemplary life and leave a godly legacy.

Love, loss, grief, and growth are knit together in this uniquely moving collection from Adanna Moriarty. Feel a life flash before you as we follow Adanna on the path of her own - from childhood wonder to young adult freedoms, to budding motherhood and the tragic loss of a parent. Woven with a love only loss could know, each piece brings a nostalgic comfort, causing the reader to ponder the threads of their own life. Moriarty thoughtfully narrates her shift in child to woman and examines the hardest of topics in an honest and gentle way. In doing so, her story is not only relatable but also softens the things we find most difficult to discuss - mental health, adapting to change, and the quiet tragedy of death. This is a collection readers will return to again and gain for comfort, for validation, and for the nostalgia of a life well lived.Adanna Moriarty weaves a memoir of poetry by exploring each stage of life and the interlocking fabric of community and family that shapes a person. From a childhood in the 1980s to adulthood in the 2000s, she drives through her memories and reflects on the loss of her father and the person she has become. She finds love and hope for humanity by exploring both her inner and outer worlds through self-reflection and world observation. Each section is laced with vivid imagery and nature as emotion: The youngest child's loneliness in the fields of upstate New York. The teenage runaway in the gritty, hot, unforgiving climate of 1990s Phoenix, AZ. The young mother coming to terms with the fact that her children are starting to move out and become adults themselves. The pandemic, the loss of a parent, the aftermath. A storyteller from childhood, Moriarty has woven poems into a memoir - a journey uniquely her own, yet relatable to her readers.

Sex worker activists throughout Africa are demanding an end to the criminalization of sex work and the recognition of their human rights to safe working conditions, health and justice services, and lives free from violence and discrimination. To Live Freely in This World is the first book to tell the story of the brave activists at the beating heart of the sex workers' rights movement in Africa—the newest and most vibrant face of the global sex workers' rights struggle. African sex worker activists are proving that communities facing human rights abuses are not bereft of agency. They're challenging politicians, religious fundamentalists, and anti-prostitution advocates; confronting the multiple stigmas that affect the diverse members of their communities; engaging in intersectional movement building with similarly marginalized groups; and participating in the larger global sex workers' rights struggle in order to determine their social and political fate. By locating this counter-narrative in Africa, To Live Freely in This World challenges disempowering and one-dimensional depictions of "degraded Third World prostitutes" and helps fill what has been a gaping hole in feminist scholarship regarding sex work in the African context. Based on original fieldwork in seven African countries, including Botswana, Kenya, Mauritius, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, and Uganda, Chi Adanna Mgbako draws on extensive interviews with over 160 African female and male (cisgender and transgender) sex worker activists, and weaves their voices and experiences into a fascinating, richly-detailed, and powerful examination of the history and continuing activism of this young movement.

My Soul Told on Me is a dynamic memoir that depicts a series of vivid personal realties through the lens of my soul. Each word holds its own weight and its own story to collectively convey the imperfect masterpiece of my journey toward mastering peace. This memoir gives you what you need-the safe space to be and the permission to feel, deeply. It serves as the vessel of unshaken truth and conversationally narrates the raw process in facing and fully accepting my flawed self. Through poems, mini-narratives, and prose, my soul respectively colors the prominence in finding, owning, and staying true to self. Although the waves do start off a bit rocky, the manifestation of undeniable growth transcends it all, unapologetically combining who I am and who I will be. This work-my work-shares the unrefined and authentic blueprint in uncovering and valuing myself, my love, and my soul. Here, I reclaim everything that fruitfully serves my being as a multidimensional whole.
