Dark Matter Mechanics: Memory, Mind and Consciousness

Dark Matter Mechanics: Memory, Mind and Consciousness

Theoretic physics fails to address causes for behavior it describes. This series seeks to fill the vacuum omitted in all the other sciences due to its presumption of empty vacuum. Vacuum mechanics is described in DARK MATTER MECHANICS: INTRODUCTION TO A VACUUM SCIENCE. This volume seeks to apply that material to the mechanics of the mind using the vacuum. This volume is a unique study seeking to investigate all possible uses of the vacuum by the physical mind. We all have personal knowledge of what the mind does but the literature wholly fails to investigate how it does it.

Dark Matter Mechanics: Introduction to a Science of Vacuum

Dark Matter Mechanics seeks to supplement the descriptions of physical behaviors in Physics and Theoretical Physics by determining what causes the behaviors being described, an attribute that is totally missing from models and mathematics of these sciences where the vacuum is presumed empty and devoid of matter. The possibility of the Dark Matter discovered by cosmologists and astrophysicists comprises the vacuum may revolutionize these sciences with mechanical theory. This material applies principles of mechanical causation to determine how to mimic these mathematical theories of behavior.

With a Foreword by Ara ParseghianThe debate over big-time college sports, never far from the front pages, has once again moved from simmering to hot. Congress has been investigating the tax-exempt status of the NCAA in part because of questions about how commercialized college sports contribute to educational values. Athletes are challenging the NCAA on antitrust grounds to get a bigger share of the revenue. Against this backdrop, more faculty are beginning to be concerned about what is happening at their own universities and to the educational system as a whole as rampant commercialism further invades campus life through big-time sports.A leader among faculty fighting back has been Allen Sack, a co-founder of the Drake Group whose writings and public appearances, including work as an expert witness, have gained him wide recognition as an outspoken advocate for athletic reform. This book brings together in a compelling way both his personal story of life as a highly recruited athlete out of high school and a football player at Notre Dame under legendary coach Ara Parseghian and his fight, since then, as a scholar-activist against what he calls the “academic capitalism” of the system under current NCAA rules.Sack distinguishes his own position, as an advocate of athletes’ rights, from the reformist stance of NCAA President Myles Brand, who believes that commercialized sport and education can peacefully coexist, and the “intellectual elitist” position of people like William Dowling, who would like to see big-time college sports kicked off campus altogether. It is a battle with high stakes for all concerned, not least the athletes whose exploitation by the system has been the motivating force for Sack’s own campaign, now stretching over several decades.

Who, what, and how we fear reflects who we are. In less than half a century, people in Vietnam have gone from fearing bombing raids, political persecution, and starvation to worrying about decisions over the best career path or cell phone plan. This shift in the landscape of people’s anxieties is the result of economic policies that made Vietnam the second-fastest-growing economy in the world and a triumph of late capitalist development. Yet as much as people marvel at the speed of progress, all this change can be difficult to handle. A Life of Worry unpacks an ethnographic puzzle. What accounts for the simultaneous rise of economic prosperity and anxiety among Ho Chi Minh City’s middle class? The social context of anxiety in Vietnam is layered within the development of advanced capitalism, the history of the medical and psychological sciences, and new ways of drawing the line between self and society. At a time when people around the world are turning to the pharmaceutical and wellness industries to soothe their troubled minds, it is worth considering the social and political dynamics that make the promises of these industries so appealing.

Bringing together over twenty years of research, this book gives a complete overview of independence-friendly logic. It emphasizes the game-theoretical approach to logic, according to which logical concepts such as truth and falsity are best understood via the notion of semantic games. The book pushes the paradigm of game-theoretical semantics further than the current literature by showing how mixed strategies and equilibria can be used to analyze independence-friendly formulas on finite models. The book is suitable for graduate students and advanced undergraduates who have taken a course on first-order logic. It contains a primer of the necessary background in game theory, numerous examples and full proofs.

God Bless America (Absurdities in American Life) is a humorous and thought provoking look at American Society today. After a brief history lesson the book explores the details of American life that most annoy and concern us as Americans. The book answers the all important question of paper or plastic, smoking or non, cash or credit, etc. Chapter headings include, retirement, debt, education, sexual preferences, the handicapped, success, critics and the movies, to name a few. God Bless America is a deliciously wicked view of Americans told in a style that also exudes the love and admiration the author feels for his country.
