Artificial Intelligence (AI) has received special attention in the Tourism and Hospitality sector. The researchers of this paper conducted a systematic literature review, in the timeframe from 1990 to October 2022, in three scientific databases: Scopus, Web of Science and Science Direct. This study allows the identification of the authors and relevant publications in the research area; the identification of the objectives, contexts, theoretical approaches and methods used in the literature on the subject; to verify the applications that Artificial Intelligence has in Tourism and Hospitality and to understand which are the advantages and disadvantages of the use of this technology in the sector. The main results reveal that the possibilities of application of AI in Tourism and Hospitality are numerous and range from the use of robots for customer service delivery in the hotel and restaurant industry, to Chatbots and Messaging, to Business Intelligence tools powered by Machine Learning, to virtual reality and augmented reality, to the possibility of analysis of large databases.

Climate change has an impact on the ability of transboundary water management institutions to deliver on their respective mandates. The starting point for this book is that actors within transboundary water management institutions develop responses to the climate change debate, as distinct from the physical phenomenon of climate change. Actors respond to this debate broadly in three distinct ways – adapt, resist (as in avoiding the issue) and subvert (as in using the debate to fulfil their own agenda). The book charts approaches which have been taken over the past two decades to promote more effective water management institutions, covering issues of conflict, cooperation, power and law. A new framework for a better understanding of the interaction between transboundary water management institutional resilience and global change is developed through analysis of the way these institutions respond to the climate change debate. This framework is applied to six river case studies from Africa, Asia and the Middle East (Ganges-Brahmaputra, Jordan, Mekong, Niger, Nile, Orange-Senqu) from which learning conclusions and policy recommendations are developed.

This book presents three papers that seek to understand the importance and role that new technologies and social networks can play in tourists' decisions.In an increasingly digital world, Tourism and Hospitality use social networks, websites and different communication platforms to provide a closer, faster and more useful service to the customer. Being online today means having the doors open to the world, where the rule is to be where the customer is.The infinity of offers just a click away means that both accommodations and destinations have to highlight their attributes in order to attract the customer.The first paper analyzes, through images and videos, the visual content of the website visitalgarve.pt and comes to the conclusion that the projected image of the Algarve is based on its natural attributes, the accommodation it provides to tourists and the diversity of tourist attractions.In the second paper, the analysis focuses on the consumer's perception of the use of social networks to choose and book tourist accommodation. In this case, the analysis of information collected online about accommodation, user comments, as well as publications made by influencers, were identified as a decisive factor in choosing and booking a hotel.Finally, and following the role of social networks in the choice and reservation of tourist accommodation, the third paper reveals that today social networks are the main means of collecting and sharing information about tourist accommodation, but in relation to the reservation it is essentially made through online travel agencies and the establishment's website.

The Cultural Elite and Antisemitic Rhetoric in Interwar Romania

This book offers the first in-depth analysis of the antisemitic rhetoric expressed by the interwar Romanian cultural elite, examining eight public voices of the period (A. C. Cuza, N. Iorga, N. Crainic, N. Ionescu, O. Goga, N. Paulescu, M. Vulcănescu and V. Horia) and discussing their position regarding the Jewish minority. This is done in correlation with the codification of idioms they used to frame identity and the symbolic borders they constructed to define both belongingness and exclusion. What were the diacritical marks used to frame Jewishness and how does this correlate with the identity narrative ascribed to the Romanian people and to the generic Other? As all eight figures were strongly involved in different political projects, the book moves from rhetoric to action, analyzing the political 'solutions' they supported in regard to the 'Jewish problem'. The book argues for both the centrality of such antisemitic rhetoric in interwar Romania and, also its local specificity. It proves that such sentiment was present and widespread among the cultural elite, a fact that explains both the collapse of Romanian democracy near the end of the interwar period and the full participation of the Romanian state in the Holocaust.
