Sedimentary Facies Reconstruction and Kinematic Restoration of Tight Gas Fields

Sedimentary Facies Reconstruction and Kinematic Restoration of Tight Gas Fields

Anna Alexandra Vackiner

The thesis of Anna Alexandra Vackiner focuses on the geometric architecture and tectonic evolution of the Permian series, combining seismic interpretation (3D block), field studies in an analogue basin (Panamint Valley in California), as well as 2D restoration of representative cross sections through time in order to illustrate the complex interaction between multiphase extension, inversion and salt diapirism. It will be of major interest for exploration geologists involved in tectonically complex areas. - François Roure, August 2012 This thesis improves the understanding and localization of the Upper Rotliegend II tight gas reservoir rock facies. It provides insights into the detailed Upper Rotliegend II palaeo-topography and local tectonically induced sediment thickness changes prior to a multi-phase tectonic overprinting. The research presented in this study further focuses on the tectonically induced synsedimentary facies distribution in transtensional continental settings on the basis of a comparison with a modern field analogue, which enables a detailed analysis of the reservoir rock’s distribution and its properties. The study is rounded off with an analysis of the influence of the multiphase tectonic overprinting on the mature Upper Rotliegend II reservoir rocks.

Against the backdrop of energy markets that have radically changed in recent decades, this book offers an in-depth study of energy regulation in international trade law. The author seeks to clarify what we define as 'energy' in the context of the applicable international trade rules, and gives the reader a thorough analysis of the concepts, history and law of the various legal frameworks underpinning international energy trade. In addition, several case studies address the ongoing quest for energy security and show how the existing rules relate to some of the vast challenges that energy markets face today, notably the decentralisation and decarbonisation of energy markets.

In i hennes värld kommer Ivan - mammas nya man. Alexandras nya pappa.
The Poetry of Anna Akhmatova

The Poetry of Anna Akhmatova

This book outlines a fresh and coherent framework for the apprehension of Akhmatova's oeuvre in its totality, seeing her as a poet who moves beyond modernism in her later period. The appeal to postmodernism, which is in itself innovatory with regard to Akhmatova studies, also allows exploration of a second problematic issue: how to account for the shift in self-presentation in the later verse, and the different concept of poetic self which it advances. This new account of Akhmatova's path to maturity challenges the conventional view of the early Akhmatova as poet in the classical Russian tradition, and of the later Akhmatova as paradigmatically modernist.

The socially minded linguistic study of storytelling in everyday life has been rapidly expanding. This book provides a critical engagement with this dynamic field of narrative studies, addressing long-standing questions such as definitions of narrative and views of narrative structure but also more recent preoccupations such as narrative discourse and identities, narrative language, power and ideologies. It also offers an overview of a wide range of methodologies, analytical modes and perspectives on narrative from conversation analysis to critical discourse analysis, to linguistic anthropology and ethnography of communication. The discussion engages with studies of narrative in multiple situational and cultural settings, from informal-intimate to institutional. It also demonstrates how recent trends in narrative analysis, such as small stories research, positioning analysis and sociocultural orientations, have contributed to a new paradigm that approaches narratives not simply as texts, but rather as complex communicative practices intimately linked with the production of social life.

Analyzing Narrative Online: Affordances and Practices offers a comprehensive introduction to exploring narratives in fast-evolving social media spaces such as Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, TikTok and YouTube. It traces the rise of “small stories” as a form of storytelling that thrives within the logics of immediacy, ephemerality, and curated sharing. Adopting a technographic, hands-on approach, this book addresses the theoretical issues and methodological choices that shape narrative discourse research, equipping readers with robust, replicable tools for analysing stories in context. Building on their innovative research in narrative and sociolinguistics, De Fina and Georgakopoulou unpack the unique features that distinguish digital stories and storytelling practices from other face-to-face situations. Across six engaging chapters, the authors showcase a wide range of practical examples, from vlogs, memes and conspiracy narratives to Instagram influencers and political commentary, illustrating the interplay between personal expression and platform design. They demonstrate how participants in storytelling practices shape and reshape their stories, emotions, and identity while being simultaneously facilitated and constrained by the very platforms used to circulate stories. The book further highlights the influence of design features on reframing events and collective sense-making. This applied guide is ideal core reading for programmes in digitally oriented discourse analysis, narrative analysis, sociolinguistics, and language and media. It is also an invaluable resource for researchers designing projects on online discourse and storytelling of all kinds.
