This ethnographic work examines both the colonial language governmentality imposed by the Turkish state and the Kurdish language activism as a response to this system. Through a genealogical study, it calls for a reconsideration of the linguistic condition in Turkey as being more than nationalist, highlighting its foundation in intertwined ideologies of racism, imperialism, and colonialism. It then provides an analysis of new possibilities and directions led by the actors of the Kurdish language movement, which seeks to enhance not only the linguistic but also the socio-political condition of the Kurdish people by taking a "beyond language" approach. The work advances our thinking about language oppression and minority language activism.

This monograph presents the microscales of complex (buoyant, thermocapillary, two-phase, reacting, radiating, pulsating, etc.) turbulent flows and interprets heat and mass transfer correlations in terms of these scales. The author introduces a general methodology for the development of microscales for complex turbulent flows. Then he provides, by these scales, a fundamental interpretation for a number of momentum, heat, and mass transfer correlations which are assumed to be empirical. Lastly, he develops correlations in terms of these scales for environmentally and/or technologically important problems related to buoyancy driven flows, pulsating flows, diffusion flows, fires, etc.

The software described is based on the implicitly restarted Arnoldi method, which has been heralded as one of the three most important advances in large scale eigenanalysis in the past ten years. The book explains the acquisition, installation, capabilities, and detailed use of the software for computing a desired subset of the eigenvalues and eigenvectors of large (sparse) standard or generalized eigenproblems. It also discusses the underlying theory and algorithmic background at a level that is accessible to the general practitioner.
