Imperial Women in Byzantium 1025-1204
This book will be essential reading for anyone studying Byzantine history in this period. It ranges in time from the death of the emperor Basil II in 1025 to the sacking of the city of Constantinople by the Fourth Crusaders in 1204, spanning the rise and fall of the successful Komnenos dynasty. Eleventh-century Byzantine history is unusual in that imperial women were able to wield immense power and in this ground-breaking book Dr Hill explores why this was possible and, equally, why they lost their position of influence a century later.

Chandler’s Ford was home to Bronze-Age man, and this book tells its story from those prehistoric times to the present day, now forming a residential suburb of the Borough of Eastleigh. Straddling the main road from Southampton to Winchester it grew out of a few scattered farming communities, in an area of heath, woodland and wet-meadows, into a 19th-century village dependent on the local brick-making industry. The development of Chandler’s Ford falls within the era of photography and the author illustrates every aspect of its changing scenery.

(from the Introduction) Renie from Golden Pond is the true life story of Lorene Turner Higgins. Her story begins with her birth, which was in a log cabin in the Fenton Community, located in Trigg County in what was known as "the land between the rivers." It continues to present time, where she now resides in Cadiz, Kentucky. Lorene, whose pet name is "Renie", married at the young age of fifteen to Lawton Higgins, a seventeen year old moonshiner from the neighboring community of Oak Ridge. Needless to say, the continuing saga unfolds many humorous, heart warming and exciting events. The sweet innocence of the youthful lass depicts the overwhelming emotional trauma she experiences as she copes with being married to a moonshiner; living with her mother-in-law, Ma Annie; after a year of marriage, giving birth to her first child, Virgil, who is deaf; and while he is a baby, having her second child, Doris.

Berufs- Und Lebensplaene Sechzehnjaehriger Schuelerinnen in Der Bundesrepublik Deutschland
