The shocking true story of the United States government’s quest to hide the reality of extraterrestrial contact, even at the cost of its citizens. In 1978, Paul Bennewitz, an electrical physicist living in Albuquerque, New Mexico, became convinced that the strange lights he saw hovering in the night sky were extraterrestrial. He reached out to newspapers, senators, and even the president before anyone responded. Air Force investigators listened to his story, as did Bill Moore, the author of the first book on the infamous Roswell UFO incident. Unbeknownst to Bennewitz, Moore was hired by a group of intelligence agents to keep tabs on Bennewitz while the Air Force ran a psychological profile and disinformation campaign on the unsuspecting physicist. In return, Air Force Intelligence would let Moore in on classified UFO material. What follows is a scandalous true tale of disinformation, corruption, and exploitation, all at the hands of the United States intelligence community.

"As a sportscaster and sports historian, Jim's career genuinely stands the test of time. . . . This book is sports history about some of the greats by one of the greats, who was taking it all in on the sidelines, in the stands or the dugout, by the eighteenth green, courtside, or in the broadcast booth." --Tom Brady, six-time NFL Super Bowl champion GOATA riveting, insightful memoir of never-before-told stories from Jim Gray, twelve-time Emmy Award-winner, Hall of Fame sports broadcaster, and renowned interviewer-- that explores the author's career and the inside stories and memorable moments of the famous legends he has covered including, Muhammad Ali, Tom Brady, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Michael Jordan and Mike Tyson. In Talking to GOATs, award-winning broadcaster Jim Gray looks back at his four decades of sports reporting from the unparalleled perspective of one of the world's most respected and skilled interviewers. A journalist who many iconic athletes have trusted to tell their stories (of both triumph and disgrace), Jim has had unprecedented access to the people, places and extraordinary events in the world of sports. Asking tough but fair questions, he has broken numerous stories, and landed squarely in the middle of others, from the Ben Johnson and Barry Bonds steroid scandals, to Michael Jordan's surprise retirement, to the off-the-court Kobe/Shaq feud which led to their on-the-court break up, to being part of the live broadcast for twenty-two Super Bowls. He's climbed into the ring to interview Mike Tyson after he bit off a chunk of Evander Holyfield's ear, and stood next to Ron Artest when the "Malice at the Palace" melee erupted, and was on site at the bombing of the Atlanta Olympics.Anyone who has watched Jim effortlessly engage his subjects at the precise moment of triumph or tragedy has little idea what it takes to secure the interview, or what actually happens when the camera cuts away. These are real, mesmerizing, and previously untold stories. Talking to GOATs features numerous world-class athletes, including Muhammad Ali, Tom Brady, Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Michael Jordan, Floyd Mayweather, Michael Phelps, Mike Tyson and Tiger Woods, and world leaders George W. Bush, Barack Obama, Mikhail Gorbachev, and many more. Jim gives the listener a coveted all-access pass as he reviews the best interviews, the best athletes, and the best games in modern sports history. It's like a personal introduction to the characters and careers of these heroes and villains we've known since childhood. He examines how money, celebrity, the media, and power interact, and how sports, more than any other institution, has led to momentous transformations in American society.

As a church leader, it s easy to make the wrong move and find yourself in a bad position. What to teach; How to teach; What to do, were the three questions Wesley employed at his first conferences. In sixty previous books Will Willimon has worked the first two. This book is of the What to do? genre. Many believe the long decline of The United Methodist Church is a crisis of effective leadership. Willimon takes this problem on. As an improbable bishop, for the last eight years he has laid hands on heads, made ordinands promise to go where he sends them, overseen their ministries, and acted as if this were normal. Here is his account of what he has learned and more important what The United Methodist Church must do to have a future as a viable movement of the Holy Spirit. "

Fyra is on the run. Permanently. She had one job: make the vampire Bishop the underworld's tool. But despite her best feminine wiles, the stubborn, exasperating, delicious male wouldn't break. Now pursued by her fellow demons-and one very angry vampire-she's running out of options. Too bad she's no good at hiding. Everywhere she goes, fires break out. Her combustible personality is more than just an annoyance, it's going to get her killed. Leaving a fiery trail for her enemies to follow, she's as good as dead...unless Bishop finds her first. Tricked into a bond with a demon, Bishop must free himself before he is forced to turn on his team, his people, and the realm he's worked so hard to protect. But even if he can catch his luscious demoness, just what will he do with her? Her knowledge of the underworld alone is reason enough to keep her-and use the unwanted bond for himself. But Fyra is no pawn, and her fiery presence threatens to thaw secrets from Bishop's past best left on ice. As enemies circle and allies become foes, Fyra and Bishop will have no choice but to take on hell with fire and ice.

Anthony Bishop was murdered on the day of Julia Harrison's graduation from Brooktown Law. Although he was the university's most notoriously well-liked professor and a celebrity in the legal field, his past held a number of concerning secrets and potentially fatal enemies. Julie Harrison was among the few who glimpsed her professor's true nature, but fell trap to his set of manipulations when she threatened to expose one of his most heinous secrets. This novel explores the complexities of the law and certain gaps in the justice system through the lense of a murder mystery. It intentionally invokes the question of what happens when a victim is left without legal remedies and explores fundamental questions of morality in the face of unwavering inequality. Victoria Slatton is an immigration attorney in Washington D.C. She is an advocate for justice, equality, and unconventional behavior. This is her first novel.

The Carmen de Hastingae Proelio of Guy, Bishop of Amiens
The Carmen de Hastingae Proelio is one of the most discussed sources for the Norman Conquest of England. Its authorship and date cannot be established entirely beyond dispute, but the weight of scholarly opinion supports a date of composition of 1068 or earlier, by Guy, bishop of Amiens, thus making it the earliest surviving account. Whatever its date, the Carmen remains a source of intrinsic interest and importance, and one used by some of the great chroniclers of the period, such as Orderic Vitalis. It is an epic poem, concerned with some of the most momentous events of a remarkable year, in which Halley's comet was a disturbing portent of undisclosed disasters. For this second edition, Frank Barlow has written an entirely new and substantial historical introduction, incorporating the scholarly research of a generation. He has also provided a fresh translation and notes, as well as revising the Latin text of the 1972 edition by Catherine Morton and Hope Muntz.
Bishop von Galen

Bishop von Galen

Clemens August Graf von Galen, Bishop of Münster from 1933 until his death in 1946, is renowned for his opposition to Nazism, most notably for his public preaching in 1941 against Hitler’s euthanasia project to rid the country of sick, elderly, mentally retarded, and disabled Germans. This provocative and revisionist biographical study of von Galen views him from a different perspective: as a complex figure who moved between dissent and complicity during the Nazi regime, opposing certain elements of National Socialism while choosing to remain silent on issues concerning discrimination, deportation, and the murder of Jews. Beth Griech-Polelle places von Galen in the context of his times, describing how the Catholic Church reacted to various Nazi policies, how the anti-Catholic legislation of the Kulturkampf shaped the repertoire of resistance tactics of northwestern German Catholics, and how theological interpretations were used to justify resistance and/or collaboration. She discloses the reasons for von Galen’s public denunciation of the euthanasia project and the ramifications of his openly defiant stance. She reveals how the bishop portrayed Jews and what that depiction meant for Jews living in Nazi Germany. Finally she investigates the creation of the image of von Galen as “Grand Churchman-Resister” and discusses the implications of this for the myth of Catholic conservative “resistance” constructed in post-1945 Germany.
