This monograph provides a comprehensive overview of the broad area of semantic search on text and knowledge bases. In a nutshell, semantic search is ""search with meaning"". This ""meaning"" can refer to various parts of the search process: understanding the query (instead of just finding matches of its components in the data), understanding the data (instead of just searching it for such matches), or representing knowledge in a way suitable for meaningful retrieval.Semantic search is studied in a variety of different communities with a variety of different views of the problem. This book classifies this work according to two dimensions: the type of data (text, knowledge bases, combinations of these) and the kind of search (keyword, structured, natural language). All nine combinations are considered. The focus is on fundamental techniques, concrete systems, and benchmarks. The monograph also considers advanced issues: ranking, indexing, ontology matching and merging, and inference. It also provides a succinct overview of fundamental natural language processing techniques: POS-tagging, named-entity recognition and disambiguation, sentence parsing, and distributional semantics.Semantic Search on Text and Knowledge Bases is as self-contained as possible, and should thus also serve as a good tutorial for newcomers to this fascinating and highly topical field.

Written by Mats Holm and Ulf Roosvald, Björn Borg and the Super-Swedes explains how a small country with eight million inhabitants like Sweden could become the leading nation in tennis and an example to imitate worldwide. It starts with the legend of Björn Borg, the taciturn and mysterious Swede who became an icon of the ’70s and turned tennis into a global sport, and ends with the Kings of Tennis, the nostalgic senior event part of the Champions Tour held each year in Stockholm. The 1985 Australian Open final, the first (and only, so far) all-Swedish Grand Slam final in the history of tennis, between Stefan Edberg and Mats Wilander, is a prominent focus of the book. The classic Davis Cup encounters between USA and Sweden in 1982 and 1984 and the Borg-John McEnroe rivalry are also key story lines. The book also includes off-the-court details about the players, painting a well-rounded picture of their personalities, as well as context on the politics of Sweden at the time, including the impact of the Social Democratic Party. The perfect gift for tennis aficionados and history buffs alike!“My experience working with Skyhorse is always a positive collaboration. The editors are first-rate professionals, and my books receive top-shelf treatment. I truly appreciate our working relationship and hope it continues for years to come.” –David Fischer, author

The legend of why Bears have short tails is an old one. Many cultures have told this story. This tale of Bjorn, the bear, and Redfur, the sly fox is often told in Norse legends. Bjorn is far too hungry and far too trusting of the sly fox. Bjorn's willingness to believe anything the fox tells him leads to consequences the hungry bear could not have imagined.

Bjorn's Gift is the second book in the Odin's Promise historical novel trilogy. Teen Mari faces greater hardships and dangers in her small Norwegian village during the second and third years of WWII German occupation.Soldiers and Nazi supporters move into her neighborhood, school presents unexpected threats, and oppressive new laws are imposed. Mari assumes increasingly dangerous resistance responsibilities and risks, trusting only her family and a few close friends. She struggles to live up to her brother Bjorn's faith in her and understand how lifelong friends can suddenly become enemies.Difficult decisions force her to admit that few things in life are as easily sorted into good or bad, right or wrong as she once believed, including classmate Leif. 1943 signals the start of yet another year in which no one can predict if or when Hitler will be defeated so the Nazi occupation can end. (Conclusion: Mari's Hope)
