Introduction form the author The essays in, Inner Demons and other essays, comprise what I believe to be the best of the essays from my blog, Riding on the Storm, written between August 2014, and October 2017. They also represent some of the more pertinent of my contributions to the Occupy Wall Street web site, under the user name GypsyKing, written between 11 October 2011, and December 2013 - most of which has now, unfortunately, been redacted from that site. This book is relatively short, considering the volume of the sources I've drawn from, including roughly a-quarter-million words written for the Occupy Wall Street site (in the form of debate, as well as of articles), and the roughly 50 essays written in my current blog in the above time frame. Also, many of the thoughts expressed here first appeared, at least in their nascent form, on my former blog, which has now been discontinued. One might conclude from what I've written above that these essays are related to the problem of inequitable distribution of wealth in modern America, but if so, they are so for the most part tangentially. At this time, a hundred years exactly since the Russian Revolution, every thinking individual should see that whatever solutions we may find to humanities problems - if solutions are to be found - can be found only through penetrating much deeper into the questions of human existence then those posed merely by financial inequality. Our fundamental problems are clearly built much deeper into us, and in the nature of the world we are born into, that any such pat explanation could begin to address. Yet nevertheless this book is brief, and in that it addresses such a complex subject, its brevity would tend to contradict the above assertion of the complexity of its subject. The simple reason is that I have no intention of boring the reader. The ideas one encounters over a lifetime, and the ways in which those ideas are infused with the spirit of particular individuality, are also both complex and intensely personal. Yet such insights, if they are valid, and are to stand the test of time, must also stand the test of brevity. The Broken World is the story of twelve-year-old Byrd Keane, growing up in rural New Mexico in the 1960s. Society is everywhere in crisis as his own family is torn apart by mental illness and the Vietnam War. From the last of the old outlaws to hippies in psychedelic school buses, from Hispanic rebellion to apocalyptic physicists who embrace the bomb, everyone is in conflict; and the world around him is literally on the verge of burning down. Through it all, Byrd must not only survive but also find his way toward a lasting freedom.
Brent is a tarot reader, a young man whose adopted family doesn't like tarot readers or gays or Swedes or anything else that Brent can bring to the discussion. One of his tarot readings is for a young Sioux man, and that's where Brent's old life stops. Brent's finds a whole new life that is full of wonder and adventure, as he learns to read his own heart first. Viking meets Sioux - fireworks. BRENT: THE HEART READER is the tender and sexy story of self-awareness and acceptance as this wounded healer lets himself fall in love with a wonderful man. "Retired archbishop: I get that. I even can see how you might write gay fiction. It's a niche, but I can see it. Bestseller on top of everything else: mazel tov. Explicit, which is cool. Now you know tarot? The hell? Dude, pick a lane." Parker B. Olsson
I am not an elephant, and neither are you. As humans, we tend to forget things. When we forget to do what we COULD HAVE, and SHOULD HAVE done to a client, we cause brand damage. When we forget to do what we COULD HAVE and SHOULD HAVE done to a prospect, we have unconverted leads and lost opportunities. Let this book and the companion toy elephant (along with your well-appointed CRM, Marketing Automation & Sales Automation platform) be the B.R.E.N.T. (Business Relationship System for your ENTERPRISE). BRENT Never forgets, and with Brent on your desk, neither will you.

After The Great Spirit finished making the Earth, the animals began to argue about who would be in charge while He took a nap. The animals arguing woke up The Great Spirit, so he said that whatever animal won The Great Race would be in charge while He took a nap.
