Relief Sculpture of the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus

Oxford University Press

sidottu
The site of the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, one of the Seven Wonders of the World, was rediscovered and partially excavated by C. T. Newton's expedition in 1865-6, and has been cleared completely by the Danish Archaeological Expedition to Bodrum (1966-76). Most of the fragments of relief sculpture have not been published before. The larger pieces, including slabs formerly incorporated in the Castle at Bodrum, are well known, but new, detailed photographs are published here for the first time. The Introduction includes a history of the site and the reliefs, with a new hypothesis on their location in the castle, a critique of Newton's accounts of his excavation, and a definitive rebuttal of many attempts made over the past century to attribute the reliefs to the sculptors named by Pliny and Vitruvius as responsible for decorating the four sides of the building, attempts now seen to be mistaken in method and misleading in results.
Bureaucratic Politics and Regulatory Reform

Bureaucratic Politics and Regulatory Reform

Brian Cook

Praeger Publishers Inc
1988
sidottu
Based on interviews with key EPA decision makers and an analysis of the public record, this informative case study demonstrates how the contemporary movement for regulatory reform has actually affected the internal organizational politics of a highly visible administrative agency. The volume offers an in-depth look at how a specific agency effort at regulatory reform can be drastically influenced by the machinations of bureaucratic politics. Evidence is offered to support Cook's claim, in contrast to conventional views, that senior political and career leadership has considerable influence over the policy direction of an administrative agency.

Not only that, he has somehow managed to keep a sense of humor about the seemingly endless obstacles put before him. With the help of his beautiful wife Sunny, Ditch and the band of godly vessels at his side have made great strides in not only helping the less fortunate around the world, but also taking down evildoers at every turn.Lately, though, Ditch has been on the sidelines. When the powers he'd wielded as Odin's Earthly vessel went away a year ago, he had to step down as team leader and now spends his days trudging through life as a mere mortal. If the quest to regain his powers isn't enough of a challenge, Ditch learns that an anonymous adversary has surfaced with evidence revealing the supernatural abilities that certain members of his group possess. His newest foe's threat to expose these abilities to the world could not only put an end to the group's good deeds, but to their very existence as well. If Ditch fails to thwart the plans of his elusive opponent, this mission could be his last.
