Paige's Book of Fishes and Whales is a simple story of a river's journey from the mountains into the deep sea and all the fishes (and a few whales) that occur along the way. It teaches ecology from a simple perspective and has a helpful fish identification guide at the end to help readers (or listeners) learn the names of a few fresh and saltwater fish.

Explore the icy ocean at the top of the world All ages from baby and up can listen and learn, and elementary school kids can read on their own. Learn about the animals that make the ice and water home, from polar bears, to Arctic foxes, to beluga whales, to narwhals, to giant sharks, to fuzzy seals, to orcas, to porpoises, and many others. Puffins and auks live. Colorful Arctic char, cod, capelin, and halibut are depicted as they swim. This book covers the real-world species as they make the waters under the ice, and the ice, home. At the end is an identification guide to allow the reader, or listener, to find the animals in the wild or at a zoo.

Cancer is a very tough subject for children and adults. This story is taken from our pup's struggle but is written to help kids cope with cancer in humans too. In the book, Meiklo gets sick, is diagnosed, and undergoes rounds of chemotherapy to get better (go into remission). Pictures are drawn from real life, and words are meant to make this topic understandable for younger readers, with hope for puppies and humans, and the families that support people, and pets, with cancer. My wife and I have had grandparents, parents, and siblings with cancer, and our puppy too, as have most people. May it provide your young ones the most powerful weapon against cancer: hope. While written for children, I recommend having an adult to help too given the topic.
