Singer/songwriter. Painter. Contemporary artist. Is there anything Bryony Marie Fry can't do? Well, now she's delving into the world of publishing with her debut collection of poetry, DECADE.Containing prose written over the course of the last ten years, DECADE journals the personal, professional and spiritual growth of Bryony's journey into womanhood, not ignoring the demons from her past. From homelessness to a long battle with addiction, Bryony has worked hard to overcome these ghosts. But that doesn't mean she's forgotten a single second of how they made her feel, using them as fuel for her poetry, in a way that is as honest and vulnerable as her music.

As a society, we use more than 100,000 different industrial compounds to promote health and treat disease, to grow food and to access clean water. While technological developments have improved our lives, most of these compounds end up in our oceans where they threaten marine life and human health. The practice of ocean waste disposal has had a long history and was initially believed to have minimal associated costs. However, it is now clear that although we can use the oceans for cheap waste treatment, we do this at the expense of the other key benefits we derive from the sea, notably human food supplies as well as its aesthetic value (including opportunities for recreation and tourism). Many of the pollution problems of previous decades appear to have been solved in the developed world, or at least managed to minimise their environmental impacts. However, despite treatment being available for some waste products, a potent mixture of toxic compounds and other potentially harmful additions continue to enter the marine environment every day. So, have the problems of marine pollution really been solved or have we simply generated a suite of different and potentially more complex challenges? In this volume we consider marine pollution from the perspective of the historical problems that are now successfully managed or solved, the ongoing problems and the emerging challenges that we face. These include hormone mimics, the residues from pharmaceuticals, nanometre-sized particles added to new materials, the millimetric plastics added to shampoos and cosmetics, the artificial fibres in the clothes we wear, and the noise and light pollution from our expanding industries and cities. Marine Pollution is aimed at senior undergraduates, masters and graduate level students studying marine sciences. It will also serve as a useful reference for researchers and professionals working in the fields of environmental management, marine planning, marine environmental regulation and protection, as well as those working for government departments, environmental NGOs and marine environmental consultancies.

This is the first book in the "drop of blood" trilogy. After her father's sudden death, seventeen-year-old Melissa Marchellis moves onto the former estate of nineteenth century composer and pianist John Simons, where a mysterious mist stalks her, ghostly piano music plays in her bedroom, and visions of John Simons' young wife Bryony, who died in childbirth, invade her dreams. Those dreams, Melissa discovers, are simply a distraction for the midnight feedings of John Simons, now a vampire. So, John proposes a trade: Melissa may visit the past as Bryony in exchange for minute samples of her blood to neutralize his vampire state. For a time, Melissa happily seesaws between her adolescent routine of school, slumber parties, and cute boys to dancing at balls, attending formal dinner parties, and hosting garden fetes. But fantasy and reality blur when her eccentric, middle-aged English teacher penetrates her dreams as Melissa's dashing, young vampire chaperone; her brother Brian adopts a peculiar stray cat after a friend disappears in a midnight exploration of the dilapidated mansion; and another girl with a similar vampire pact is gruesomely murdered. Caught between the danger of her agreement and her escalating infatuation with John Simons, Melissa contends with other vampires and their agendas, while struggling with her feelings for an undead musician.

A Wedding Story'A spry if wintry comedy about a lesbian, a wedding-day bonk, and a mother who contracts Alzheimer's... It dares to find failure and frivolity (a sure sign of dramatic honesty) in the face of domestic hell. Funny, frank and churning by turns, this struck me as a lyrical new play about the unlyrical business of coping when real life knocks on the door.' Daily ExpressFrozen Winner of the TMA Best New Play award and Eileen Anderson Central Television Award for Best Play.'Bryony Lavery's big, brave, compassionate play about grief, revenge, forgiveness and bearing the unbearable.' Guardian'A major play... thrilling, humane and timely.' The Times'Consistently surprising and even bravely comic... The almost thriller-like promise of the play's climactic confrontation is like a time-bomb ticking in the back of your head.
