McKenzie Bishop is fresh out of the Army after getting wounded overseas. Estranged from his family, he decides to attend college as far away from home as possible; ending up at Buchanan State University, in Crescent Falls, Pennsylvania. He doesn't know a soul there; so, it's the perfect place to begin the next chapter in his life. After two weeks of immense boredom, loneliness, and his own form of alcohol therapy, he decides to pledge a fraternity, something he always wanted to do prior to joining the Army. Enter, Delta Iota Kappa, the animal house of BSU.Bishop is the oldest one in his pledge class and wary about what the pledging process will entail, but like everything else in his life prior, he fully commits. Everything goes smoothly until the night he's arrested at a fraternity party. Faced with jail time or a Veterans Affairs substance abuse program, Bishop chooses the latter, and to his surprise, falls head over heels for his much older female counselor. He finds this elusive woman intriguing and suddenly, his sessions become about much more than learning how to overcome his addiction to alcohol.

In a matter of seconds my entire world changed, and it was in that moment that I stopped living and simply began to exist. In my grief, I sent a letter to the first boy I ever loved. I didn't expect him to write back. Sergeant Devin Ulysses Clay did what I couldn't: he put the shattered pieces of my heart back together. But now that I'm whole, I have a decision to make. Do I return to my life as I knew it and the fiance I left behind, or do I walk away from it all for the only man to ever break my heart? *** A letter from Katie Devora--a letter that I almost didn't open. Her words put a fire back inside of me that I didn't know I'd lost. The Army saved me from a callous mother and a life on the wrong side of the tracks that was quickly spiraling out of control. So unlike most of the men in my platoon, going home wasn't something I longed for. I was content overseas, spending my days defending this country that gave me my life back. Fighting became my new normal ... until her.

When the Red Army needed to mechanize its cavalry branch in the 1930s, the BT fast tank was its solution. Based on the American Christie high-speed tank, the Red Army began a program to adapt the design to its own needs. Early versions were mechanically unreliable and poorly armed but by the mid-1930s, the BT-5 emerged, armed with an excellent dual-purpose 45mm gun. It saw its combat debut in the Spanish Civil War in 1937 and was later used in the border battles with the Japanese Kwangtung Army in the late 1930s. The final production series, the BT-7, was the most refined version of the family. One of the most common types in Red Army service in the first years of the Second World War, BT tanks saw extensive combat in Poland, Finland, and the opening phases of Operation Barbarossa in 1941 and latterly during the 1945 campaign against the Japanese in Manchuria – this is the story of their design and development history.

Bacillus thuringiensis (Bt) bacteria use Cry proteins to kill their insect larval hosts. The expression of certain Cry toxins in transgenic crops has been widely used to achieve efficient control of insect pests. This book describes the use of Bt crops and the emerging problem of resistance, recent progress in understanding the mechanism of action of Bt toxins, different resistance mechanisms and strategies to cope with resistance in the field. It describes resistant insects found in the field in different countries, particularly in the developing world, and ways to counter resistance such as gene stalking, refuges, modified toxins and gene discovery of novel toxins with different mode of action.

Equipped with a more powerful engine and a larger, heavier airframe than primary training aircraft, Vultee's BT-13 served an important role as a secondary-level trainer for the U.S. Army Air Corps and Navy. Designed by Vultee's Richard Palmer, the BT-13 was adapted from plans fora fighter aircraft. The prototype first flew in May of 1939, and by August 300 were on order. By war's end over 11,500 BT-13s and variants would be produced, more than any other trainer. Featuring a cantilever low-wing and fixed landing gear, the BT-13 appeared to be of all-metal construction, but it actually relied on fabric-covered control surfaces. The powerplant was a Pratt & Whitney R-985 radial engine capable of producing 450hp. Nicknamed the "Vultee Vibrator" because of its tendency to shake as it approached stall speed, the BT-13 was nevertheless beloved by student pilots and instructors alike. Several variants of the aircraft were built including the BT-13A and BT-15 equipped with alternate powerplants. Roughly 2,000 BT-13As and BT-13Bs were transferred to the Navy, which designated them as SNV-1 and SNV-2 respectively. Originally created by the U.S. Army Air Force Training Command, this Basic Training Student Manual features the BT-13A throughout, and describes all aspects of flight training circa 1944. It puts you right in the cockpit of one of history's great planes.

The Northrop BT was a two seat, single engine, monoplane, dive bomber built by the Northrop Corporation for the United States Navy. At the time Northrop was a subsidiary of the Douglas Aircraft Company. The design of the initial version began in 1935. A 700 hp Pratt and Whitney XR-1535-66 Twin Wasp Jr. double row, radial air-cooled engine powered the aircraft. The aircraft had slotted flaps and a landing gear that partially retracted. The next iteration of the BT, designated the XBT-1 was equipped with a 750 hp R-1535 engine. This aircraft was followed in 1936 by the BT-1 that was powered by an 825 hp Pratt and Whitney R-1535-94 engine. One of the BT-1 aircraft was modified with a fixed tricycle landing gear and was the first such aircraft to land on an aircraft carrier. The U.S. Navy placed an order for 54 BT-1s in 1936 with the aircraft entering service during 1938. The BT-1s served on the USS Yorktown and USS Enterprise. The type was not a success in service due to poor handling characteristics, especially at low speeds,"a fatal flaw in a carrier based aircraft." It was also prone to unexpected rolls and a number of aircraft were lost in crashes.Despite its shortcomings, the BT-1 led the way to its successor, the SBD Dauntless, which wrote itself into the pages of the US Navy's history during the desperate, and decisive, battles of 1942 and 1943 which took place in the Pacific.
