Rick Riordan Presents: Sal and Gabi Break the Universe-A Sal and Gabi Novel, Book 1
Best-selling author Rick Riordan presents a brilliant sci-fi romp with Cuban influence by Carlos Hernandez, winner of the 2020 Pura Belpr Award. "I love this book in every possible universe With a surprise on every page and two of the most cosmically awesome, vividly unique heroes I've ever read, this sweet, hilarious book made me so happy."--Tui T. Sutherland, author of the New York Times best-selling Wings of Fire series What would you do if you had the power to reach through time and space and retrieve anything you want, including your mother, who is no longer living (in this universe, anyway)? When Sal Vidon meets Gabi Real for the first time, it isn't under the best of circumstances. Sal is in the principal's office for the third time in three days, and it's still the first week of school. Gabi, student council president and editor of the school paper, is there to support her friend Yasmany, who just picked a fight with Sal. She is determined to prove that somehow, Sal planted a raw chicken in Yasmany's locker, even though nobody saw him do it and the bloody poultry has since mysteriously disappeared. Sal prides himself on being an excellent magician, but for this sleight of hand, he relied on a talent no one would guess . . . except maybe Gabi, whose sharp eyes never miss a trick. When Gabi learns that he's capable of conjuring things much bigger than a chicken--including his dead mother--and she takes it all in stride, Sal knows that she is someone he can work with. There's only one slight problem: their manipulation of time and space could put the entire universe at risk. A sassy entropy sweeper, a documentary about wedgies, a principal who wears a Venetian bauta mask, and heaping platefuls of Cuban food are just some of the delights that await in his mind-blowing novel gift-wrapped in love and laughter. Endorsed by Rick Riordan, author of Percy Jackson and the Olympians, soon to be a series on Disney+.
Rick Riordan Presents: Sal and Gabi Fix the Universe-A Sal and Gabi Novel, Book 2
Best-selling author Rick Riordan presents Carlos Hernandez's sequel to the critically acclaimed Sal and Gabi Break the Universe, a brilliant sci-fi romp with Cuban influence. *"This book, drenched in Cuban Spanish and personality, is a breath of fresh air."--Kirkus Reviews (starred review) Among many other challenges, Sal and Gabi have to try to make everything right with our world when there is a rogue Gabi from another universe running loose. Sal Vidon doesn't want to live a Mami-free life. Pulling different versions of his mother from other universes is how he copes with missing his own, who died years ago. But Sal's father, a calamity physicist, is trying to shut down all the wormholes Sal creates, because Papi thinks they are eroding the very fabric of our world. All of Papi's efforts are in vain, however, because a Gabi from another universe has gone rogue and is popping up all over the place, seeking revenge for the fact that her world has been destroyed. While Sal and Gabi work together to keep both Papi and Rogue Gabi under control, they also have to solve the mystery of Yasmany, who has gone missing from school. Could it have something to do with the wormhole in the back of his locker? With multiple Sals and Gabis in charge, it's no wonder this sequel offers even more hilarious weirdness and love than the first book.

One of the most brilliant and interesting phrases that keeps on coming up and out of many professors' mouth is; "...it is just a construct". This phrase in and of itself can summarize - from a simplistic point of view - the whole issue of racism, discrimination, and other inhumane treatments that have been and are currently being experienced by many individuals in many regions of the world. There is definitely a lot of wisdom hidden in this phrase; "...it is just a construct". Moreover, if something is a construct it means that it was - precisely that - constructed by something/someone. This "something" with the power of constructing, re-constructing and de-constructing things is called the human mind. Upon reading these sentences, one can realize that there is an intrinsic link between "constructs" and the mind. That is precisely why the purpose of this manuscript is to provide and present a tripartite model-theory of understanding and change (transformation) that could be used as a framework to understand, deal with, and change radically racism, discrimination, misperceptions about other people, assumptions about color, race, and gender, and other biased fictions created by the mind, which do not have any foundation and correspondence whatsoever in objective reality.

If there is a thinker and writer that has addressed this psychological, social, scientific and philosophical issue in a highly scholar manner and thorough fashion, it has been Frederick R. Bauer. Professor Bauer has not only examined the issue of human nature transparently from multiple angles, but he has also considered the plethora of applications and complications his Jamesian Quintalist response implies. Frederick R. Bauer's response to the question of what a human being is can be broken down into three different stages: 1) the discovery of himself as a person, 2) his first attempts in Rome, Italy and Worcester, Massachusetts, and 3) both his published and unpublished scientific answer to the question of what is a human being. It is obvious and plain common sense that Frederick R. Bauer's first response started with himself as he started questioning and discovering who he was as a person. The rest is history, as they say. This is and should be the starting point for any serious researcher into this type of topic. As Dr. Bauer moved to frame his observations, self- iv discoveries and reflections he developed a manuscript for internal circulation during his Philosophy of Human Nature courses at Assumption College in the region of Worcester, Massachusetts. This manuscript is a gem of facts and considerations that cannot be ignored by any serious reader and researcher into this most important topic. However, it was not until 2011 that Bauer published his official statement on the issue of human nature in his You're a Human Being -What's That?: The Scientific Answer. This brief introduction of mine is precisely an introduction to his Jamesian Quintalist answer to the question of human nature found in his book. In other words, the purpose of this extremely brief exposure is for you to be redirected to read his more complete and satisfactory answer to the question of who you are Reading Bauer's work will change the notion you have about your own self-identity forever
